Hi,

I'm new to creating mods so forgive me if I'm totally out in the woods on this one http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

Is it possible to mod the campaign map? even creating new maps?

Cheers

Seems it's a work-in-progress. See this thread from the Dungeon:
http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin....;t=1818 (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=5;t=1818)

Maybe I'm reading more into it than there is, but Viking Invasion provides the ability to support more than one campaign map for the first time. This may make creating and using custom campaign maps much easier.

Yes,

Check the threads Automatic LukMap creator ... (stickied) and Drenai .. (not stickied) in The dungeon.

You can download LMM4v1 from the Org and try it out - but bear in mind it is still a BETA version so I'm not interested in questions (sorry) until I get the next release (LMM5) out together with the proper/updated documentation.

As for VI - I can guarentee that CA will NOT be providing a new Campaign Map editor.

MV,

SoS is quite correct. If you can't read documentation and are incapable of learning from examples, then ...

... LMM is not for you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Wellimgton, If you would have remembered there was no documentation supplied with LMM4V2 and I followed the exapmles I was given and generated 4 minicampaigns as a result, the fact that I had a problem with the 2nd seperarion of Drenai , is not something I should be scolded and ignored for remember it was you that VOLUNTEERED no one asked for your help, and jsut when there is a minor problem you go off and hide, I dont like airing my problems here it is not the proper place , so if you want to act like a civil human being instaed, of a tosser with his head up his arse, you let me know, I can follow instructions Wellington, you said so yourself, I have kept all the mail you sent and the story is there ,I have done nothing to warrant your reactions they are quite mis-understood. I will await your response.

I don't see anything wrong with Wellington's post to invoke such a response Sword. There is obviously some history here I'm missing. However, you've both (Welly and SoS) apparently been in email contact with each other. Therefore, any issues you have with each other should be confined to email. No need to air your dirty laundry in public.

I have the utmost confidence that both of you will drop this line of posting and take it to email if more needs to be said. Thank you both and have a nice day. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Greg,

With all respect I personally have aired no such dirty laundry so please dont tar everyone with the same brush.

My 1st post was intended to assist someone, MV, rather than elicit unsubstantiated criticism.

The fact is several people are currently using LMM sucessfully - as the threads testify.

I'm busy trying to sort out all other issues with this utility, principally documentation. Anyone who's involved in software developement will understand that when you have one person investigating, coding, testing, debugging supporting and documenting such a utility - for several op/sys - things take time.

If the time this takes does'nt fit with other peoples times scales then my apologies.

I understand you're a very busy person and have a lot on your Plate. and i think it was unfortunate that things had to come to this, eg dirty Laundry nbbeing aired in the public forum, but myself and SoS jsut wanted to get an update from you on where we stand with your continued assistance with the mod we are working on. It did seem that we were being ignored by you, SoS sent a few emails requesting an update, I know we are in no position to demand or expect you responses, but you did say you would help out, and all we ask is a simple yes im still in, just a little busy atm or no

Hope there was not too much offense taken, we would still greatly appreciate your help.

To the mods, sorry for the disruption to your normal peaceful forums,

Shand,

Of course I'm still helping you both out on this mod. As I said I'm just as interested as you both on this Drenai project because it's so different - and I appreciate the documentation may not be too clear at present which, I can assure you, is just as frustrating for myself as for you guys.

No offense taken. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

No worries welly.

Sorry that we seem a little impatient, we're just that interested in the mod, we wanna get through as much as possible. By all means take your time. if we could just ask that we be kept informed, because as I said, we've got some work ahead of us and we just wanna know what and when we'll have to work on.

It's not a full moon tonight...I don't get it. I'm going to chalk this up to people have an off day. I'm sure it won't happen again. Right?

SoS,

No probs mate.

We ALL get frustrated at times and we all try to attempt things that take far longer that we would initially presume.

Also, the current political climate does nothing to help our frustrations.

The fact that you and Shand have versions of LMM (LMM4v2) that no-one else has should be testimony to my commitment in this respect.

The (pretty poor&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif documentation that was provided for LMM4v1 is valid in many respects for the LMM4v2 version I provided you both with - but you must appreciate that good documentation takes some time to get right.

You also have to appreciate that the initial versions of LMM (as per the threads in the Dungeon) was developed VERY QUICKLY in order to sort out the problems to be surpassed aSAP - and hence the documentation suffered accordingly.

I'll E-Mail you to ensure we are all (you, I and Shand are in-sync with the Drenai project). You must also realise that Shand has some op/sys problems with LMM4v2 as he is on Me/2000 (which I never had the opportunity to test whilst I was developing the initial principles of LMM).

I'll send a further E-mail when I have the LMM tutorial completed to my satisfaction - [b]AND ONLY WHEN [/b} - at which point I'm sure some confusing aspects may be a little more understandable.

In the meantime I'll try and sort out this tutorial in order to help you and Shand progress.

Hope we are cool SoS http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Welly
