Portuguese faction

I have you searched the downloads/mods page or searched the Dungeon forum? I think there is at least one or two mods out there that allow you to play the Portuguese or any of the other minor factions.

yes i even downloaded all of the campaigns. In fact i tried to change one of this campaigns changing the aragone by portuguese but when i extratct it ro startpos it doesn't load.:confused: http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Are you copying the file over to the directory or copying the contents over? I had this same problem and for some reason it would not accept a new file. It only worked if I copied the contents over into the existing file.

If you want to play with Portuguese in the Singleplayer Campaaign you can mod it for yourself (hope i understand you and its helpfull what i'm saying):

Open: MTW Folder->Campmap->Startpos

Now select the time you want to play in.

Open this .txt File

than its complicated, if you no how to, creat a Shield if not, use the Aragonese and insert this

Now insert in Major faction lands:

Now ur first one Mod should work. If it doesnt, i'm sorry. You can make this mod better in choose more options in this .txt files but it is very strange if u dont know how to do this.

Are were refering to the selection of your campaign not appearing on the screen or the faction not appearing? If the faction does not appear on the screen don't forget to setstartleader, placeleader and heirs as well as the others mentioned by Assasin. If not it won't work.

I found this thread to be pretty useful in getting factions set up:

It's pretty technical, but if you're comfortable with an editor, it's not all that difficult to get it going...especially with a Catholic faction like Portugal [more difficult with Pagan factions, currently].

First i copied a mod and then open it with notepad and try to change what was written. I didn't create a new one. But now after reading all your replies and also the link i will try again. I'll let you know if it went well. Thank you guys for the help.

Huh? you're joking right...

We fought the moors out of the iberian peninsula, fought in the north africa, our sailors discovered half the world, we had an empire that stretched from south america to china. Play MP? Not really, you know, I'll be moving to a new house this year and I've decided to wait until then to get a connection.

So I'll email my MOD to those interested, just write it down asking for Al Shama'ar's Portuguese MOD and I'll send it over. Just don't expect too much, cause I don't have that much time to play (in fact I was suposed to be working right now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif ), and I did it only because, as Portuguese Rebel put it, CA people should have considered a Nation like ours, which had a major contribuition on freeing the peninsula of those pesky almos, and afterwards on expanding western frontiers.

I've only had M:TW for about two months, but have been reading the post both here and at ezboard.
I have learned a lot, read all those helpful docs a lot of you guys have made and after a week and some persistence I acomplished my goal: to play as Portuguese http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif (remember, I work and can only play a couple of hours every night http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif )
