Here it is... a poll on poll... A metapoll kind of.
Next will be; how many possible answers are there on average on any given poll?

I voted Gah. But only on the assumption, and the understanding that this was for those of us incapable of producing intelligable verbal response. Had it been Drool, or Stare blankly into space, I would have chosen them... now if you'll excuse me, I have some staring to get back to...

Great...a poll abour polls. Maybe I should post a poll about pole-vaulting Pole polls at polling places. Bet folks wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot......

Do you have to be at least a Junior Member to post a poll? I haven't noticed, because the same type of people I would associate with a poll have been posting them. For instance, the patron who has nothing better to do, the Patron who needs more posts to get closer to 501, the patron who actually has something specific in mind with some relevance, and thus has good poll choices....

Be vigilant people, the tensions that run high in this board right now have created opportunities for many to get promoted by simply posting in OT threads. I am afraid there will be another Tavern cleanup in a week or two.

There is poll abuse going on???
I voted Gah, because it was the closest thing to Guh which is probably what I would say in this situation. Your polls on polling do not impress me (Or maybe I'm just mad because I can't start polls...)

Please read Gregoshi answer in this topic, and you'll get a sense of what I am talking about

Gregoshi can't handle all those polls (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST&f=15&t=8265)
Next poll topic; is posting a poll compulsive or does one have to think beforehand?

Actually, my biggest gripe with the polls is that the choices are poorly constructed. Many of the polls I don't vote on because none of the choices apply to me. Unlike a regular post, polls need to be thought out before they are posted in order to have any significance. The favourite game polls are a great example. They might have more significance if STW and MTW were left off the choices - of course almost everyone here is going to vote for MTW or STW, so what is the point of the poll?
Also, wording of the choices is key too. Are differing choices worded fairly? Example:
Do you beat your wife?
1) Yes
2) No, I stopped last week
3) I don't have a wife but I kick my dog/cat
No matter which choice you make, you still look bad in the eyes of others. There is a skill to putting together a good poll. There is also a skill in recognizing overkill. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

You are quite right, Gregoshi, nothing to add to that.
