Well, although this is my first post, I'm a long time lurker (almost since MTW was released). There's a post in the Main Hall about heroes, but I can't post there. Anyways, just yesterday I uploaded a FAQ with a partial list of heroes w/their stats, and I'll slowly update as I find more. Hope this helps.

Hi Maxian. Thanks for de-lurking.

Nice job on the Hero_FAQ_v.1.0.zip file. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif Many of the names meant nothing to me but a few are interesting - William Tell, etc. On your next version, it would help if you put a dividing line between each hero (----- fox example) and a different dividing line between factions (=====). Also, a label next to the year they appear would help identify that number (or am I just that slow?).

I'll post your notice in the Main Hall. Maybe some patrons can help grow your list and yet others might enlighten us with a short historical description on some of them.

Thanks for putting together the list.

Edit: I copied your notice into the Heroes post in the Main Hall.

Many thanks, Gregoshi. Yeah, the format is a bit rough, so I'll make it spiffier for the next version. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I'm guessing it won't be too long before we see you hanging around in the Main Hall anyway. you're right gregoshi, they do grow up awful fast http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Its a good list, but you haven't included any non generals.

Sometimes strategic agents get heroes too.

For example

English get Guy De Gisborne (5 star assassin)

and Thomas Beckett, a 3 star bishop. He eventually became Saint Thomas.

And I've seen an Italian emmisary named Marco Polo.

Haha I saw that same thread today and wanted to post something in it. This was posted in that Main Hall thread by LRossaRikimaru:

Quote[/b] ]For Italian: San Francesco D'Assisi an inquisitor 3 stars (in the real history he was a peaceful monk)
Niccolo Machiavelli ambassador don't remember the stars LOL

There is a Roman Catholic Saint named Saint Francis of Assisi. I went to a Catholic school named after him when I was a child. I thought was kinda neat when I saw that.

Thanks Gregoshi, that was one of the reasons I decided to register and start posting instead of just lurking and reading. Actually many of the posts in here convinced me to get this game. I have been reading the forum for a few weeks since reading about RTW and I decided I must try Shogun first, then in a few weeks I'll pick up MTW.

Smart move with starting with the oryginal. I was playing Civ3 and wanted to move back to Civ2: it never worked out that way, it is like moving back in time from my Miata to a Yugo or something.... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The manual mentions Alexander Nevskii for the Russians, which, if he's in there, I probably would've seen by now, unless they've got him way out of place in the chronological order. He should appear around 1236, as that's when he became Prince of Novgorod. However, the heir system for dealing with the Russians doesn't really work, as their princes were elected, much like the HRE's Emperor, except it wasn't always the favored son.
