Hmm, of all time? Thats kinda hard, the best fitting one I could say would have to be a series and not an individual game. The series being the excellant Civilization series of course.

TW, Championship manager, AOE2, RTK3 and counterstrike i guess.
Civ, Civ and Civ. I still remember the first day i played to CIV 1 (well, the day and the night, hehe).
Also TW series, of course. I remember the tutorial where u have to take the archers and the yaris with the heavy cav and 2 more units, it was really hard to me to win that... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Just never have been much of an RTS fan I guess. 1 & 2 are dated but I still dust them off and play them once in awhile. Man, if I could get back all the hours I've spent on just these 3 I probably could have earned several degrees by now. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Harpoon - the classic naval warfare strategy game. The older version first made for the Apple Macintosh was simple to learn and fun to play. The later versions for Windows just made the user interface more complex and took the fun out of playing the game. I have seen articles that a new version is in development, hope it goes back to the playing experience of the original.

1. MTW & STW
2. Homeworld series
3. X-com Apocalypse
4. CIV 1 & Colonization
hehe, got loads of other games worth mentioning but then you would grow a beard before you were finished http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
My favorite (base on the amount of time i spent for the game):
1) Romance of the Three Kingdoms 3. From 1990 to 1999 (when STW came out). I still have a 486 PC to run the game but haven't had extra time to go back. Actually, the time I spent on it decline a little when XCOM: Apocalypse came out in 1997.
2) STW + MTW: 1999 to now and keep on going. Looks like this series will take the first place soon. One of the only 2 games (or game series) that I join a forum and play MP.
3) Operation Flashpoint (CWC/RH/RES). 2000 to now and still going but way behind MTW. Also so join a forum and play some MP but not as much as STW. However, I play lots of LAN games (co-op) with my brother and my cousin.
4) XCOM: Apocalypse. 1997 to 2000 (when Op Flash came out).
I played many other games, but most of them are forgotten once I am through. Somes, I even abandoned half way through.

Before STW and MTW, I was heavily into StarCraft/Brood War. I think it was designed perfectly. All of the levels were challenging for when they were encountered, since they were set up to gradually ramp up your skills.
Before that I was into Legacy of Time. There was a very good detective series (I forget the name of the guy). They were part movies, part cartoon. The game allowed you to do the investigations by having conversations with people. You were offered options for your responses, and it you responded correctly then the characters would help you or hurt you.
For a while I was into Doom, Duke Nukem, and computer golf (got to be pretty good). Half Life, most of the Quakes. There are others. I just can't remember them right now.
Did anyone play Phantasmagoria? Pretty spooky. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

I know its really old and a lot of you may not even have heard of it, but my all time favourite game: Dungeon Master. Its a classic of its time and you can even download it off the net for free now - superb.
Alternatively, MTW. I play it every day - much to the annoyance of the GF - and yet it remains insanely addictive. You play the online MP and you win - you want to play again because you are all G'eed up to give someone another whooping; you lose - well you can't quit having just lost can you
Edit: Apart from Jet Set Willy - see below (an absolut beut of a game) has anyone mentioned:
Paperboy
Shadow of the Beast
and remember the little hand held games like Donkey Kong.

I so love the fallout games. Seems weird no one ever wanted to make a new version or even a clone. Much more fun RPGing with guns and post apocalyptic stuff. Ahh well sure black isle will pull their heads out from where they have shoved them and make fallout 3 eventually. In the meantime the game lionheart uses the same SPECIAL engine as fallout and might be a worthy distaction.

My favorite is System Shock 2, a Thief-powered game. The sounds were excellent, the upgrades fun and unique, and the atmosphere first-rate. Atmosphere in a game is what I find most important.
There was nothing like the boosting of strength and melee ability through psionic disciplines and OS upgrades. At full power(which I do not know if I completely reached), any enemy in the game could be killed with one hit from the Crystal Shard.
That game is a gem Shodans voice still haunts me..........
The Polito form is DEAD INSECT AAAAAAAAARGH RUUUUUN......nowhere to go or hide....shiver..
What's the point of a LOTR mod for MTW when we already have... The Hobbit text adventure Greate game, state of the art graphics, intruiging dialog. (Gandalf says Hello)
Seriously, how can anyone answer anything other than Total War???

Hey all,
New to the boards, but I've trolled for a bit. Anyone remember any of the classics on the C-64? I remember playing Bards Tale for hours and hours at a time. That was the first awesome game I played. I also remember saving up 45 bucks for Flight Sim II with the cheezy polygon graphics and 8 bit color - now we were talking state of the art back then
Starcraft/Broodwar has to be one of the best MP game ever. And of course anything by Tom Clancy rocks - Rogue Spear, Raven Shield, Splinter Cell... Oh and I can't forget Gran Tourismo for the Play Station.

i'd go with space quest/heros quest/police quest series, those were some fun games.
fallout 1/2 are both good, and they are making lionheart, a medieval rpg with a rip in fabric of space/time, so you've got an infusion of alien or other wordly blood and hence magic powers or straight up animal strength. it looks promising, though probably doesn't have the cool, lewd jokes of fallout.
