Just like it says. Gothic Foot Knights have the same charge, Better attack (+1), worst defence (-1), but since they are not mounted you can use them agains spear and pike units.
Gothic Knight do have better moral and are faster, (but alot slower then other mounted units)

Can some one tell me how to use this unit, cause i always dismount.

Quite often, people use them like big, armored camels. Their heavy armor and armor piercing spiked maces help them to defeat enemy mounted knights. They are not nimble flanking cavalry, but more of a unit that would stay on your flanks, protecting against enveloping tactics from enemy cavalry. They are quite good against infantry for the reasons above, but their lack of a powerful charge means that other forms of knights would be a better candidate for the job. To summarize, they are used defensively as an anti-cavalry unit.

Just as Kongamato said, just stay away from spears, or polearms, unless you absolutely have to engage them or your valour and upgrades are much higher than theirs. Any other unit type can be engaged at leisure, but armoured enemy knights as well as swordsmen are prime targets.

They look cool: Use them as battlefield ornaments http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Seriously, the have pretty good armor, and are quicker then foot soldiers, so I just use them (if I get to have them) as Airborne Infantry http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I use them to hold up a weaker side so I can attack and quickly overpower the other side. One unit of Gothic Knights will hold off two other types of cav units for a while so you can leave them alone and concentrate on the other side of your formation until you can help them out.

To be honest I haven't used Gothic Knights at all yet, (I play too many games as the English, the HRE seems to lack loyalty and can have too many fronts to defend)

Besides I love attacking and killing the French within a handful of years, to give me the land I need to expand from http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I love Gothic Knights for some reason. I always use them to tie up other heavy cav units giving me time to get some other units in behind the enemy and hence destroying them http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm not sure, but in campaign you wouldn't get the matchup, as VGs disappear in late, and GFKs are late only units.

Yes you can. You can't construct Varangians in Late, but any you have already build will remain for use. I hade 16 full units of VG when my Byz campaign moved into the late era... you just have to be careful of how you use them, as you cannot replenish their numbers except by merging.

I suppose the VG would win because of superiority in numbers. I'm not a stats person, but one could always set up a custom battle and see who'll win.
