Been wondering a while if weapon upgrade affects ranged damage. I live under the impression that it doesn't but people who buy weapon to pavs confuse me.
So does weapon upgrade affect ranged damage? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Most tests say that weapon upgrades only affect hand-to-hand performance. I really dont trust what I hear in the foyer. From what I have heard, no upgrades(besides artillery) affect accuracy or ranged damage.

I found a thread discussing this (http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20020320-1-002506.html)

It does.

I tested it with V2 pavs, 1 jsut v2 \the other V2 W3, they won with 55-35 kills-losses.

so not worth the money imho. Armour works better for about the same price.

Hmm would it not make sense if weapon upgrades increased lethality and accuracy ?

What I mean is that if armor affects survivability against missile fire, then weapon upgrades for missile units should increase lethality and accuracy of those upgraded missile units.

As far as I know though, sadly, weapon upgrades do not affect lethality or accuracy.

Am I right ?

I vote for H2H weapons only.

It should effect something as not all crossbows are equal niether are all bows... the difference between a short bow and a composite bow would essentially be those 4 upgrades you can get.

i prefer armour upgradges as weapon ones arent worth it for ranged units

Rage: so do they work for ranged as well? You can buy them in MP so they have to do something, although, it has to be hard to notice, since we are all only guessing here...
