Tell us about the battle

I am yet to try Multiplay, partly through fear of totally screwing up But mainly I dont think my machine can handle it. I have a P3 500MHz, 64Meg Nvidea G4 and 256Meg ram, 512K cable modem, on Win XP pro. Some of the really big battles on SP are pretty slow on my pc and there is no pause in Multiplay

Anyone have a similar spec pc and managed to play online ok?

Can someone plz enlighten me on the multiplayer etiguette? I have been called a camper in one my most recent games have no clue what I doing wrong, I was defending). Game has to be fun for all ^^

You are not doing anything wrong. Some people don't know how to take a strong defensive position so they are upset when seeing someone having advantage over them.


Some simple MP Code:

-stay friendly always
-before the game show goodwill by saying Have Fun or Enjoy etc..
-remember it's a game
-have funnnnnn always
-if you join a game with rules, observe them or leave
-communicate with alies
-co-ordinate your moves when possible
-watch your allies back
-end game courteously saying Great Game etc..
-don't be abusive

Some more MP etiquette:

-always stay in game till the battle ends. If you want to leave after you have lost, say so otherwise people will find it uncouth.
-never quit in the middle of battle, leaving your allies on the field.
-if you must quit the battle for whatever reason ALWAYS rout (control+o) or ALWAYS withdraw (control+w) your troops first.
-watch who you fire on. try not to shoot your allies troops when possible. e.g stop your archers firing on enemy archers being raided by friendly cav. same goes for artillery, fire support can hurt allied troops more than enemy troops.

The following setup seems very good, played 2 games and won them both =)

15k, late period

french

2 chiv knights V2
4 Gendarmes V2
4 Passive Abs V0 (why do people upgrade them?)
4 Militia sergeants V3 W1
2 Halberdiers

I used the gendarmes for smashing in and retreating, and my upgraded militia even tore up JHI I send my chivies around the batlle left and right, and the sandwiched the general ^^ Never got to use the halberdiers, but they looked cool.

BTW, about etiquette, if you are the host then always leave enough time for the others to study unit kill/lost ratios at the end and to save the game. There is nothing more annoying IMHO when you want to save a battle but the host quits before you can do it.
