I keep getting The Words (logon error) despite retyping my logoninfo like 5 times and even logging in to my gamespy account to check upon things. Since the fantastic 'news server' doesn't show any messages about maintenance or something like it I wonder if it's down or do I have a problem?

woo hoo I'm not the only one. Sad to say that I've been working on my problem for at least a week now. Been many places trying to find out whats going on. See if you can access the mainpage www.gamespy.com . If you can't, then you're having the same problem as me, if you can, then you're lucky. After a few attempts with some adequate hackers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif err...knowledgable computer people, it seems we have come across the possibility that Gamespy is actually blocking everyone on my network. Sounds strange I know, but our network admins are trying to get in contact with gamespy to see whats the deal. Of course they have basically no tech support, so thats a hard thing to do. If I actually find out Gamespy is blocking me....oh am I gonna be pissed. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif

Our apologies for this. One of the GameSpy services went down, evidently for some hours. I think it finally came back up sometime around 4pm GMT.

This is an unhappy consequence of being amongst the few games which actually uses all these services which GameSpy provides... we're vulnerable to problems if any of them is unavailable. Most games only use the 'announce a game' matchmaking service - which is why anyone who checked in Arcade would have seen all the FPSs merrily listing thousands of games as usual.

If it's any consolation, Tony Hawks 4 players may have suffered similar problems

Still, back now...
