novelty units whats the point?

ever wonder what the dev's were thinking when they were making all those units, like murabitin? Did they think they'd be widely used, maybe they needed to reach a quota? Maybe they could have spent a little more time balancing. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Murabitin can be nasty in later stage of the game, units are scattered and unwatched, murabitin can be put behind this unit and start peppering, can kill 3-7 per volley :o. Of course missile fanatics like Elmo can also use this unit well.

Actually I use murabitin very often (3 out of 4 times) when im using almohads... They are very nasty when upgraded well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I agree with Tempiic, Murabatins can be very useful. Kerns are nice as well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Maybe it's because they are something different but I do tend to like 'chucker' units

I like Javelin units as well. I use them a good amount, and wish other factions had them. It's always fun to use units you don't normally, or to find new uses for the ones you already use, the same units over and over get boring to use.

Yeah I tried them just recently. I used them as melee troops mostly because the AI kept retreating, so it was harder to get them into a position to throw javelins....mostly because they were fighting uphill in one battle, and completely outnumbered in the only other one I had them in. Fun units to use though.

Skomatth: Lots of times u r right on, but u sure missed this one.

Playing as Almo 4 first time - luv those Murabitins and AUMs. Fought Murabitins against Kerns and Gallowglasses - pretty funny.

Me thinks the 'novelty' units are one of the best parts of this game.
