Clan Badges - how to view them

If your clan has a representative at the Org, it is possible to submit a list of members and a badge for all of them to wear, this is a nice feature that could be used more widely, at present only RTK and Kenchikuka have submitted one.

In order to be able to view these badges you need to change the "board skin" of the ikonboard, to do this follow these simple steps ..

1. Open "your control panel"
2. Click on "account options" (fifth link from the left)
3. Using the drop down menu under the title "board 'skin' " change the skin to "clanSkin"
4. confirm the change by clicking on "Change my account options"
5. go back to the board to find clan badges in view, if you cant find one come here and you will see mine just under my avatar

i think tosa tried to let flash be used but it didn;t work properly .. the badge needs to be a gif ideally .. under 10kb in size and 50x25 or smaller in dimension ..

Baz, I only remembered that there was a problem, not which.

FearofNC, I have no programs to make flash. I only have some 'huge' examples, those are simply rejected.

Problem is that the code for the clanbadges does not 'expect' dimension parameters. If it works, then the badge.swf has to be max 50*25.

Gif, jpg, bmp, png and animated gif do work, like http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin....5;st=50 (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=13;t=2725;st=50) shows.

Have the badge. I can search for Elite X, but I prefer you to tell me the names to prevent mistakes.

It's 997 bytes -> ~0.9 kb. You can submit a new one if you had to decrease quality to make it so small (any clan'leader' can submit a new one if they like to).

i personally use Flashmx and to change movie dimension i goto .. Modify>Document .. then a box appears with editable dimensions within it, not sure if that helps but might give you an idea with swish ..

Sorry for being harsh here: no repesentative = no badge.

You can create a 'virtual' Elite rep. account if you wish to. Communication about who should have and who should not have clanstuff (it's just the yes/no badge now, but more may come in future) has to go through 1 person. It doesn't matter how those decisions are made within the clan: the 'spokesman' may be a messenger, the absolute clanleader, a democratic choosen president, a puppet, your brother a comrade or an org account shared by all clanmembers.

Edit: up to LRossa Vinsitor. There's only one technical restriction: staff member accounts can't be clanrep.

@TosaInu: ELITE would really appreciate, if you could try your best to respect ELITES self-understanding as a brotherhood of equals. This means, we are a clan without leader, without representative, without any form of hierarchy. Creating a fake leader is wrong as this would give newer members of the community a wrong impression of our clan. Creating a ghost account could not help in this issue either.

In ELITES interest to hold our values up, we ask you to just let ELITE have a clan badge, without any special "leader" for this forum. ELITE thinks that for the clan badge yes/no decision, this won't be too difficult and if there will be more options you can be sure to count on ELITES support.

The clan account was a clanleader at first (already was that at the old UBB forum). It was changed a few months ago to clan in order to 'allow/ease' any clan 'official' to acquire it. Not only 'classic' clans are able to reap the 'benefits' of representing themselves in the forums, also 'modern' ones.

I have no intention to tell any clan how to run their 'business' nor do I have any opinions about it. I just want 'easy' communications about what to do and not 10 different opinions from 1 clan, nor 5 updates a week from 3 different clan'members'. It's the clans concern to solve these issues and make such decisions, not mine.

If it's not 'acceptable' to have a representative (in whatever form), then the clan will be 'restricted' to use the sig picture feature.

I'm very sorry: I don't have time to solve consequences that may result from leaving this policy.

Bomi, how about creating a username of the sort clanelite, that represents all of ELITES, and thru this account manage all the clan-related features/correspondance in .Org, e.g. request/submission of the badge pic, listing of ELITES, etc?

That should maintain ELITES' principles, as well as making Tosa job easier.
