Just got the Warlord Edition last week and completed a full Mongol Campaign as the Mongols over the weekend, on Hard Difficulty.
The Mongol cavalry ROCKS! I had many battles with kill ratios of 10:1. MHC are very powerful and MLC are very versatile. I found that in later portions of the game I end up just using these two unit types and not bringing along any of the Korean units. (especially the Korean Guardsmen - sooooo slow) Skirmishers & Thunder Bombers were fun, but not really necessary most of the time, at least not in my case. They can be very effective when used correctly, but I found that from my experience before I could march them towards the enemy, my MHC & MLC have almost finished the job. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Preventing revolt was a challenge. I played the old way (like STW 1) where I'd have to garrison provinces (since Mongolians can't train shinobi) to keep the population quiet. But I heard that one should just keep moving. Let the people revolt and just come back later to conquer the province again, AND loot it again. More $, less worry. I think I will do this hit & run when I play Expert Level.
I guess one thing that would have been nice is more strategic elements, like spies, assassins, buildings (maybe some swordsmiths / armouries, but of course not really dojos). But I guess it'll be tricky trying to balance gameplay and historical accuracy.
