I've just completed the Oda Nobunaga Historical Campaign. There are only 3 battles in total, and you'd need to win each one before progressing to the next. The 3rd one was a great one. It's Oda's arquebusiers against Takeda's cavalry. That's one very exciting and close battle I haven't had for a long time. It can really give one nightmares about the Takeda cavalry. I think quite a number of my yari ashigaru and arquebusiers have peed in their pants. I'm just glad most of them managed to stay put and not run for mama. I managed to win the day, but it was very close. Try it out if you have not done so.

I was pleased and surprised they actually put in the stockades the riflemen hid behind to avoid teh cavalry charge. That was what made the battle a win for Oda. I thought they'd go the cheap way and just have them lined up on a hill with guns. The stockades was what made it really realistic for me, historically and otherwise. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I think another reason why the yari ashigaru did not budge was that they were of high honour. I remember some of them were Honour 4.

I had a bit of problem with the stockades. I'm not 100% sure whether it's because of them. There were a few times the Takeda cavalry would come very near my arquebusiers but the guns just won't fire. I had to specifically click on the arquebusiers and tell them to shoot. I wonder whether it's because the stockade was in their line of sight (LOS) and they decided as a unit they don't have LOS when more than half of them are blocked by the stockade. Or maybe it's because the Takeda unit was marching in a long column formation and since the centre of the unit is still far away, my arquebusiers decided they are still out of effective range, even though some of the horsemen are already 10 steps away.

What do you think?
