thunder bombers,
these guys are the Monty Pythons of WE/MI,

these guys are frail and stupid, i mean if you're going to throw a grenade you're going to throw it as far as you can? right?
not these fellas,
they kill more of there own than the enemy do,

I have seen a unit wipe itself out, they threw their grenades, everybody chucked one,
not one went anywhere even remotely near an enemy unit, they landed amongst themselves and the MHC that was a fair way behind them,
they not only wiped themselvs off the face of the earth, they took half my MHC with them...

ON THE OTHER HAND, I'm fresh off the battlefield, where, due to a strategic error on my part, half a dozen spare units of thunder bombers found themselves in a rear province amidst a rebellion,
well thought I, they're spares, they may as well take a few with them, so we entered the battle screen...
six units of thunder bombers lined up against 2 yari sams and 4 yari ashi,
a forgone conclusion right?
thunder bomber skulls for drinking mugs, right?
wrong,
the thunder bombers climbed a small rise and waited for the yari's to come to them,
on came the yari's - off went the grenades,
to hell went half the thunder bombers and better than half the yari's - and the yari's decided bugger this, we're off to the teahouse,
with some 60 odd surviving thunder bombers in hot pursuit...

me?
I fell off my chair laughing...

Yes they are a Fun unit taht can make you smile if you are not to serious about your game.

I have found that they only work good if:

1. They are throwing downhill, uphill the bombs tend to come back and kill them!!! lol
So using them defensively makes sense.

2. If you sacrifice them when you are attacking. Sending them in the beginning of the battle (1 or two line formation max), when the ennemies army is still in one compact group. BADABOUM!!!

(hehe)

These guys remind me of the dwarves in Myth II; although in this game they are pretty much worthless...

They constantly remind me of the Goblin Fanatics of Warhammer.

I'm waiting for Templars armed with the 'Holy Hand-Grenade of Antioch' in the Crusaders game.

Strange to think that 'thunder-bombs' are one of the few historically accurate things in MI - the Chinese loved their fireworks. Don't think they were chucked by Korean nutters though; probably crude catapults instead.

YEs Romulus I agree, except these guys don't say,"oh sorry about that!" LOL I have found a very good strategy when fighting against thunder bombers who are on a big hill. I over run them with a fast cav unit and get above them on the hill and behind their front line. They turn and try to kill my guys and their bombs drop back down the hill amongst their own troops!! HEHE too funny to watch. But unfortunately, my cav unit does not get the kills recorded for this maneuver. LOL Wonder if the thunderbombers get credit for "friendly fire"? hahaha

"Oh Lord, bless this thine Holy Handgrenade, that it might smite thine enemies to tiny pieces ... in thy mercy !"

Cheers

I hope in STW:Crusades the constables don't show up and we can dice up those snotty French men, or at least get some use out of a large wooden rabbit! Neep!
