i read somewhere you can re-train your troops (with the drill-dojo) and that somehow you can re-fill depleted units using the proper dojo.
just checking, since i'm sure there are some variable answers to my questions.

Yes Soly.
This is the way I understand it.
If you can make the unit in that province, bring up the train units screen, click on the unit on the strat map (or in the castle if it's in the castle) and drag it into the train queue. That renews unit manpower.
If you have the drill dojo, you do the exact same thing but it also adds all honor bonuses, weapon and armor bonuses, etc. available in that province. Plus discipline (whatever that does).

Oops, you don't just drag the unit's icon from the strat map. You click its icon, and then it shows the little white square symbol of that unit in the bottom of the screen. You drag THAT into the training queue.

I believe discipline makes it easier to get them back when they are routing.
Personally I am not sure about that as once mine go - they go! The AI is a different matter entirely.

I retrain a lot now, the costs are low and a lot of times you get freebee's (armor, weapon upgrades etc... free). Retrain an old yari sam with high honor unit in a province where there is armor, weapon, honor, moral upgrade and you get all that for your unit + getting new soldiers for that unit (back to 60 or 120 whatever). Pretty nice.
I like also the possibility to destroy buildings and get some koku out of it, with MI in SP Sengoku period. A guerilla hit and run/deplete your rival's economic and technical structure becomes a worthwhile tactic.

hey thanks for the help. I'll refrain from asking why such valuable info wasn't included in the manual....

Soly:
There's a brief explanation on the "shortcuts" guide on the back of the new tech tree poster that comes with MI. Least in the one I bought. Didn't find it in the manual either.
Hmmm... since I havent tried it yet, does retraining cost koku?!?
(Or is it 'reprogramming'? LOL)

Vanya, retraining only costs koku if you are replacing warriors from a depleted unit, and is pro-rated per warrior. If you are just upgrading weapons, armor, honor,or discipline of a full unit it cost's nothing. To discover the cost of retraining, right click(and hold) on the unit icon that appears at the bottom of the screen when in the strategy map.Retraining is sound strategy, especially during bad harvest years when your on a low budget.
