For those that do have success against the Hojo Hoard. What honour do your average armies have? Mine usually tend to be around 2, sometimes, even 3, and if I have a super kick arse army, 4. now, I keep wondering, how in the heck does someone get their army to an honour 6, or even 8, when they die all the time. If you have one unit where 10 samurai die, next battle, 6, next battle, 14, you have 30 men left of the 60 man unit. So, you drop in some new recruits to consolidate and boost the size of that squad back up, and presto, you lose your honour. How do you build a really high honour army?

Leading it with a high-honor taisho means the regulars get honor bonuses. So, an honor 6 taisho (Im not sure about the exact bonus value, so correct me if Im wrong) would make an honor 0 YS, for example, have honor 3 as long as said taisho leads the army.

So, get a general and rack up his wins, and you can add honor to your ordinary troops that lack honor of their own!

That and add in some legendary dojos...

yep what u do is get 1 of ur heirs or daimyo to get loads and loads of easy wins. . .(asaulting castles with 15 men in for example) then when he gets to rank 6 (32 wins 0 losses i think it is) u will get plus 3 honour bonous. . then if u buy units from legendary dojo's/ archery dojo's etc they will alrdy be hnr 2 so that gives u honour 5! then a few battles l8ter ur men can be honour 6 7 or even 8!! if u look after them!

Speaking of generals ...
you know in original STW, The Shimazu's are known for their RANK TWO generals.

Yep, I confess, I even bothered to raise some to rank 4, a few to rank 6.

But once in a game, I was so pissed by the rank 2s who constantly pop up, that I took two of them (both are archers) with my main strike force, and ordered them to charge at the enemy cavalry.

Of course, one unit got slaughted instantly, another unit miracoulsy escaped with about 10 men left. I rallyed them, then told them to charge again, this time no one returned.

Then I shed a false tear and ordered my real army to officially 'avenge" the death of those whimpy generals.

That's similar to what King David did to get the woman he desired.
