View Full Version : I thought suicidal daimyos was fixed?

I enjoy the single player campaign quite a bit (Don't care for the Mongol one, getting attacked randomly in any province is not my idea of fun.) but the Daimyo's are constantly charging to their deaths in battle. They either get right into it and get killed or they molly around.

I have turned the campaign time limit off because it's unrealistic and tends to run out in a good battle, especially with these idiotic reinforcements coming from all sides (to make matters worse, on river maps they spawn in locations that they cannot get out of, forcing a loss of the battle). So, this one battle I had routed all of the enemies forces and his daimyo sat there, right beside all my troops and just stood there until I chased him off, nearly killing him. They clearly need to tone down the morale on these idiots and stop charging them into battle. They should be at the back of the battle no matter who is winning or losing.

So most of my campaign games end just when I'm starting to make headway as the Takeda clan with a bunch of Ronin and Rebels left.

Is there any way to prevent this or modify one of the files so the chances of a new clan uprising is increased? It's pretty boring just conquered the rest of Japan with Ronins on it.

Any suggestions are welcome http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Yes, i helped bring 2 clans back from oblivion on my last game (Takeda and Shimazu). This worked near the end game, when only one AI clan was left. You send a group of shinobi in a province originally held by that dead clan. The first couple of revolts will be "peasants" , but if you leave them there you will get a "loyalist" revolt after 2 or 3 seasons, and voilĂ  a born again clan http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

yeah, i had a few bornagain clans...pretty cool actually.

As for the daimyo charging. I've pretty much got it down to a science...As soon as his morale breaks you order any nearby troops to move out of his way. (it's easier than you think, since his army is routing when he does, it's pretty safe...I like keeping enemy clans alive. *g*)

The mongol campaign? I didn't see one...hmmmmm! i'll have to go check. w00t!

suicide daiymo is really a bad one... He just cant wait to get his leader killed.

They should have an "hardcore" switch that gives the AI unlimited daiymos. Many of my campaigns end early because hes thrown his leaders away.

Hey, a Hatamoto is a very awesome unit especially early in the game. I ALWAYS get MY Daimyo into the thick of things, and though I try and limit his casualties so that his Hatamoto can keep more of the honor they gain, if someone's going to get killed it might as well be a Hatamoto-man, cuz he gets automatically regenerated!

Of course.. I always WIN, and if I can't win, I don't let my guy get trapped.. the AI could use some bolstering in these two areas, lol.
