But don't you hate it when a neat/touching/interesting thread got locked just because some members went over their heads and made some inappropriate remarks?

Why not simply remove those posts instead of the whole thread? For I think removing the whole thread is unfair to those who did NOT say anything inappropriate.

other than a "divine-wind" thread i haven't seen anything neat/touching/interesting getting locked up.

We rarely close and deleting posts is not something we do unless we actually have to.Deleting posts just tends to lead to more abuse and complaints, if a threads htat far gone it's usually irretreivable. rest assured it's a last resort. Plus people are expected to stand by what they've said in a reasonable and respectable manner, or retract it themselves if it's unacceptable..
