View Full Version : Mongol Bowling
Well, since the Mongols take heads to make drinking cups out of, I figured I'd offer the community a new use for the battle dead... bowling, Mongol style. I'm sure Magy can verify for y'all the TRUE historical nuances of the game, as it was played by the original scourge of Asia.
1. Shave the skin and flesh off the head to leave a bloody skull. Leave the brains in it for added weight. Pop out the eyeballs and pull off any sharp teeth the bastid may have.
2. Cut off the legs and stack them in a typical bowling pin formation -- a triangle with 1 leg at front... you all know what I mean.
3. Stand about 30 feet back from the racked legs. This distance is the alley. Grip the skull by placing your finger in the mouth and the index and ring fingers in the eye sockets.
4. Hurl the skull down the alley towards the stacked legs. Release the skull with the finger and index figer extended and level. NOTE: expert players can use wrist motions to put "english" on the skull!
5. High ranking players can have pages or assitants hand them new heads for each turn, as there is no automated head-return mechanism in Mongol style bowling.
Well, have fun! I set one of these up in my neighborhood, but for some reason, the neighbor's mothers seem opposed to the whole concept... Go figure... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Also fun is Korean Darts
Take one unit No-Dachi and place in wedge formation (looks like a set up for mongol bowling).
Bring up Korean Skirmishers on the trot. . .
Take three volleys and count the number of no-dachi left over. Low score wins.

Twit of the Battle Contest
Take a unit of Thunderbombers,
Have them attack a unit UPhill.
Count how many Thunderbombers are left after attack.
Low Score wins.

Actually, despite what the authors of STW contend... sanda bomas were not porcelain orbs filled with gunpowder... they were human skulls filled with gunpowder! The powder was crammed into the craneal cavity after the brains had been removed. Obviously, you couldn't use subjects that had died as a result of head trauma, for their skull integrity had been compromised in their harvesting!
For extra effect, they would leave the eyes and tongue attached to the skull so that when it went off over the heads of the startled japs, it would have extra psychological effects.
Arguably, this means they 'kept their eyes on them', 'gave them a mouthfull' for challenging them instead of capitulating, and 'gave them a piece of their mind' in the process!
What a joyous world we live in!

someone must start a running man tournament,
it would be a blast, could have up to six observers...
I doubt if anyone could hide for an hour,
does the kensai have to merely be found, or could the kensai controlling player use max koku to get as high honour upgrades as possible and slaughter ninja?

Thunderbomba-Rama
Let's get ready to rummmmmmmbbbbbllllleeee!!!!
Takes three people, two allies as mongols, one Japanese who serves as referee.
Japanese take one Kensai unit set to hold formation and hold position. At no time is Japanese unit allowed to attack. He is the referee.
Two mongol allies take all thunder bomber units.
At signal from the Japanese referee the thunderbombers go after each other. (NOTE: this is best played on a map with gently rolling hillocks.
Killing the referee is instant disqualification.
Person with most kills wins- INCLUDING friendly fire!!! (Good tactic is to throw uphill and take all your units out yourself)

Kensai Sumo Wrestling
Each opponent takes 1 Kensai with maximum honor and upgrades. Game is played on King of the Hill preferably map that places Center Ring on the Bridge (echigo I think).
Play to 100 points. Killing is frowned upon. Making opponent rout scores style points.

Rout the peasants
Both sides take all yari ashiguru with 0 honor. Play with 120 man units. At all times your men must all be in group formation- you are not allowed to move any units individually- these are sheep, not men.
First player to rout others army wins. Best played on a flat map- green, totomi, even 4th.

LOL DragonCat! You're on a roll...! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
muskets chicken fight.
Lowest rank of muskets, with golden armor. 16 units each army.
The weather has to be a rainy day but with bright patches once in a while. Otherwise both players got disqualified.
Both parties have to wretle in the mud or shoot the brain out of each other .

Mongol Horse Racing
Need two mongol players and one japanese as referee.
Referee takes four units, one to monitor each edge of the board. One unit is placed in wedge formation and acts as start/finish line.
Mongols set up cavalry at start/finish line back to back, with back edge on the point of the wedge formation.
At signal from referee, mongols take off racing around edge of map as fast as they can. Referee disqualifies any that do not adhere to the edges at all times.
Winner is first to complete 5 laps. For shorter races, make it fewer laps or smaller map.
For extra fun, run two races, one with heavies and the other with lights.
Routing due to exhaustion is instant disqualification.

Kill the Ninjas
Attacker takes on unit of BN and the dfenders take a light cavalry and a few samuri or similar (numbers can depend on map size). Have the time limit set as long as possible. The longest the ninja can survive, or the sooner they can defeat the defenders the better.
This would involve the ninjas trying to pick off lone units (positioning would be crucial) but the defence can't counter this by moving all their units together because they'll never find the ninjas!
Oh, and Dragoncat - you have quite an imagination!

i like to put 16 muskies in front of one another, with the lowest honor in the back, and watch them all shoot each other in the back of the head
DragonCat

Hmmmm, that would be Musketeers roulette.
You place 16 ranks of gunners, and players bet on which rank will be eliminated first. Of course, the ones in front have the best odds!
