I saw a post where someone was complaining about the MI/WE addon/game and they said that since the intro movie used footage of someone else's work, the entire game was tacky and crap. I don't agree with a single word he was on about but I would be interested in knowing what it was taken from. It's a movie right? So what is it?

The movie is Ran from Japanese genius/movie director Akira Kurosawa. Look for the movie in your local video store (subtitled is preferable to dubbed language).
Check out the Japanese History and Cinema Forum elsewhere on here for threads on the movie in depth.

Ta very much! I haven't seen a war movie for quite a while and since I'm a Shogun fanatic this one sounds right up my street.

soly: I can't speak for foonslice-san, but I always thought a "foon" was just another name for a "spork"!
Of course you can order various "chow foon" at most Chinese restaurants, too, but I don't think you "slice" them. There, I think "foon" = "noodle" http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Kurosawa is a world renowned director, so I'm sure most of his movies are available with relatively little searching. I'm not sure about DVDs.
Incidentally, also look for Heaven and Earth, a movie not by Kurosawa but with great battle scenes. Just a warning, there's another movie with Tommy Lee Jones that has the same name, but is an entirely different movie.
