If lets say u send a unit around the back of the enemy and leave it there...without any of ur units fighting H2H does this have a effect on ur unit or all of his?
If so what sort of distance 2 the unit or units do u have 2 position urs to have this effect?; http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif

If you send a single unit behind the enemy lines before the fight begins, that unit will run away real fast once the brawl begins. Because its all by itself and the knowledge of being outnumbered has a negative effect on the troop morale.

Then again the knowledge of being surrounded also has a negative effect on the troop morale. But surely not if you just send one or two units behind them (depending on the total size of the armies).

it depends. there's an old strategy (don't know if it's pertinent nowadays) that has you sending aunit of cav archers aroundthe battlefield and behind the enmy army, hidden in trees or otherwise not engaging enemy troops. the AI engine perceices this as flanking the enemy army, and the enemy now has morale penalties, even tho technically, the "aren't aware" they are being flanked and are in no danger of flank attack.
the xpack may have changed this, so someone will have to correct me.

Err, what the use of putting a unit behind the enemy and don't use it http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

First off, you shouldn't get any unit behind the enemy before hand to hand combat begins in the main core - or else the enemy will just counter attack your flanking...

Get your defensive units to hold the enemy units, then quick get shock troops (like nods, monks, cavs), behind the enemy and strike there...

And putting a unit behind the enemy before hand to hand combat didn't begin would only reduce the morale of your unit and probably rout if it is low honour. (CA tend to do this mostly) It may work with CA, but don't go too far from your main army and don't get chased by cavs, or the CA would probably rout anyway after a short span of time.

The best way is to act quick and sting the enemy on it's rear during combat. It's important to be subtle and don't let your enemy know or prevent your flanking moves.
