No weapons upgrade bonus for missile troops?

I've heard it said that swordsmith upgrade attack bonuses apply to HTH troops only. My imagination might be running away from me, but I'd swear on the family jewels that a good deal more troops drop to missle-men with weapons upgrades. I say this in keeping with all things being equal; honor, similar situations & weather conditions. I always assumed this bonus applied to their katanas as well when they switched to HTH. Can I get a witness?

Yes I've had a 80 strong musketeer unit with 3 weapon upgrades kill about 70 enemy Yari samurai in one volley at point blank range. The best a unit with the same honour but no upgrades can do is about 30.

I believe i have seen this as well. I allways just figured the swordsmith made better arrows and bulletts.
