Wow - Autoresolve worked BETTER than I did!

Amazingly enough - on xpert - I held shinano with High Honor Mongol skirmishers - general was rank 4. I had roughly 540 men - honour 4-6 - all skirmishers, and was invaded by 1100+ men by the Hojo. I accidentally hit the wrong button - it autocalc'd the the battle and WOW! I lost 5 men - they lost a bit over 500....
I reloaded the game and repeated - same result over and over again - while I tried repeatedly to win the battle manually and it never failed - I invariably lose at least 50 or more men....

This is indeed a first - a better outcome than what I would have if I played the battle...

any thoughts on this?

I often auto resolve the little rebellions where the AI has 80 peasants and I have a decent army and get 0 or 1 losses for 80 kills. Not worth the time and effort to do it manually. I know, I know - shame on me.

hey it's not the end of the world. in my earlier days I'd use autoresolve on the battles i felt were too much for my experience level at the time (for example, my defending army of 2500 against 3200 enemy). there were times i'd see the results and be surprised myself. i haven't used autocalc anytime lately, but do remember using it once because i couldn't be bothered to assualt 60 archers with my army of 700. the autcalc did it for me with 0 (zero) casualties, something i doubt would have happened had i assaulted it myself.
