Hi, just got the game yesterday and have been playing it nonstop. Never have I played such an unbelievable game. I had asked around on strategy game NG's for a game like this, because I used to be a hardcore player of the C&C series, AoE 2, and entire Blizzard line. And I got sick of spending more than half the game building structures and units. WHAT KIND OF AN ARMY BUILDS BASES AND TRAINS UNITS ---DURING--- WAR???

Shogun is the answer to my prayers. Other people pointed me to the Close Combat series, a game which is pretty good (I tried the demo) but a bit too old for me.

Man this game is like... err whats that Napoleon board game called... Total Conquest? Or Global Domination... Sorta like a huge sim but simplified to the point of Chess-like. Fantastic. The only gripe is that the graphics on the battlefields is not as good as it could be, but at a high res and a HUUUGE ARMY it is perfect.

Now, finally I have a question, the whole point of me finally registering here! My top general, Utsuki something, has won a lot of battles but his troops are getting weaker and weaker. I need to add troops to him. How do I do this? I know how to create units, form a big army under 1 general, I even know how to split a big army into 2, but I can't seem to add fresh troops under a veteran general.

Thanks for reading! I know its long, but its my intro. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi + welcome to totalwar.org; I don't play many campaign games anymore + to be honest I don't remember how to do what you are asking, or even if you can. Sorry I couldn't be much help, but welcome nonetheless! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

hello

armies on the campaign map can have 16 units. iThe best thing to do is to separate the genrals unit from the army he has now. Then decide which troops you want to add to his army select the 'playing piece' that represents them on the strat map and drag (h over the playing piece of the general and release. it's a bit fiddly but easy once you're used to it. Don't ignore your old troops completely though, they're vets who have often accumulated a lot of honour of their own. try combining the depleted units or retraining them to boost numbers and get upgrades, these troops are worth more than they look in their depleted units. hope that helps

Hmm. It wont' work. I seperated my top general so he has a piece of his own. Then I took the "fresh troops" and tried to drag it on top of the general piece.. it doesn't work.

Oh cool.. just tried something. I tried to take your advice, and seperated my General unit which is about 30 something each, and it didn't work when I tried to add fresh 80 unit troops to it.

So when I tried to recombine his old troops, one of the old 30 soemthing ones combined w/ the general and now general is 67 w/ a 32 troop.

Now I know how to replenish my top general so he won't die... I need to know how to add fresh full unit troops to him. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Woohoo!! Ok, it took me 2 minutes to figure out that combining troops also takes 1 turn. So when I moved my fresh troops into the province of my top general, I couldn't combine troops in the same turn. I have it all sorted out now. I hope this was interesting for you to read, not a nuisance. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

One of my provinces has fallen, and castle under siege. I will go kick some ass now. Bye, I'll be back soon. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
