you might be taking an extra long time, or you just might be getting your heirs killed in battle to regularly.
when you clikc on the banner or icon that contains your daimyo, you'll see that he has his Age listed. Kep an eye on this, since the older they get, the more likely it is they will die of natural causes. when this happens, or if they die in battle, the next heir will take over. of course, if you have no heirs (every clan gets a few) then the game ends.

for information on heirs, search this forum.

Give each heir his own army...if you can afford it. Heirs in a daiymo army (or army of general with greater honor?) will be swallowed up with the rest of the grunts.

Totally agree with running backwards (do some of you people deliberatley create long names http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif)
I have lost a couple of hiers because they were not leading the army and therefore you can lose them in a battle without knowing it. If they are with the Daimyo or a high honour general it is very hard to keep track of them.

your heirs are more easily identifiable in the STW:WE game than the original STW.
Taishos are ranked as normal, but heirs have the clan symbol on the unit banner (the little square with the picture of the unit type) instead of stars.

yes but dont make the mistake of putting several heirs in the same army...then you are playing with fire

Hehe, puting more than one heirs in one army?
Isn't it a bit too ... cheap? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

After all, you only get a heir every ... say, decade. Do you need man power that badly that you have to use heirs as crossbow foder?
