TW Logfile Browser - public beta version is released. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Please download it HERE (http://www.totalwar.gametribe.net)

Since it's still in beta stage, feel free to abuse the program as much as you can http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif, and tell me whatever you think of it.

incidentally, the old logfile readers still work just fine , information-wise. the only dif is that the old readers use cav pictures for the mongol units.

hmm.. to where would one extract the Runtime Library? I could assume it belongs in windows\system\ , but I don't wanna screw things up.

Thanx..

Also, it might be a good idea if you included instructions and such in a readme to be included in the zip. A readme for the program would be good as well (tho I understand this is just a beta and am sure you'll include this in the full release).

soly, which logfile reader did u use? i used magy's reader, but it crashed when i tied to open a MI log file.

khan7, you are right, the libraries should be in the windows/system directory. but if you hate messing with the system directory, I believe putting them in the folder where the program exe file is will do just fine. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I like this logfile reader a lot.

I have one suggestion. Include text and/or a graphic to indicate the clan that each player is playing from. When I recall battles I often forget the names of who played but knowing what clan they were fighting (particularly the clan's colors) for helps me to place the player and the battle.

Well done, Polar. Thanks.

Can you edit the files?
It would be nice for the log-file to come in a vbs like interface that the peeps can't edit but the log-reader could read and the player can't edit!
It would require a lot of job but it would be amazing http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

"Can't find the STW folder"

Yes that is a bug in my experience too. Fortunately one can just click through it and use the dialog boxes to find the logfile folder. The reader will then work.

It would be nice to be able to teach the logfile reader where to look and to able to adjust that default.

The program searches windows registry to find the STW directory when its loaded. in theory, it should find it if your MI was properly installed. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

An alternative method of finding the STW directory will be included in the next release to address this problem. for now, if you are tired of selecting the folder every time you run it, you may move the program to your logfile directory, so that the program starts with the correct folder. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
