Is There a Building # Limit?

I apologize if this question has been asked 50 times. Is there a limit to the number of buildings/stuff one can have in each province? I see spaces on the status bar for 16 – what happens after that??

After 16 buildings U can't build any more in the province, but you can upgrade the existing buildings.

I believe the option to destroy buildings and units was added partly due to this problem. Many people would build their home province full of stuff in their first campaign and only then notice they haven't got the space to build the Geisha House they so longed for.
