Howdy y'all, I been playing this game for over a month, and have enjoyed reading the informative posts on this forum.

I had an interesting expierance while playing Takeda. Uesugi sent an emissary with a fine speeech on how we should work together. So I choose to accept the alliance. So what does Uesugi do the next turn launches a major attack on me.

I kick his tail out of my two provinces, so on the next turn he sends another emissary. This emissary says pretty much the same thing, and again I accept the alliance. So next turn he attacks again, and again I defeat him.

During this time Oda, and Hojo are attacking me as well. So I take a Oda province and use his port to move my armies to Aki to consolidate my forces. In the mean time I had sent an emissary to Uesugi for an alliance to gain some breathing room.

So next turn another emissary arrives with same spill, and again I accept. As soon as he leaves my emissary's head arrives from Uesugi. Talk about a bold scoundrel. When I meet him again it will mean his death, that durn scoundrel http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

ninjas are a nice way of getting rid of pesky emissaries who are really just spying and/or trying to buy out your own armies from under you.

Normally I use the emissaries to up the honor on my ninjas, but by playing Takeda I have to get allied with all the clans till I can build my armies.

I was surprised that Uesugi was so bold in his ways. Trying to ally then attacking. Then trying to ally again while at the same time delivering my emissary's head to me...lol. I thought it was funny that his emissary gave his peace speech then left the room and right after my emissary's head was delivered from Uesugi. I'll have his head before it's over http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

so far there's no way to decapitate an unwanted emissary, only the computer can do it to yours. the only alternative is to use ninjas.

Only ninja and geisha can get rid of those pesky emissaries... it is better to kill the ones being sent to the other Daimyo. Accept every treaty and break them when you are in a position to attack... learn from the Hojo http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Good for raising the number of kills that your ninja has before going after Rank 2 & 3 generals.

I wonder if an enemy clan you have been fighting and asks for a alliance and you decline it does their emissary disappear? If so he may have been beheaded after you declined.

Speaking of ninjas attacking higher ranked generals. I had a ninja that was honor 0 to kill a daiymo when he had a 0% chance in the box. I thought it was strange that he succeeded, must have been a glitch that allowed that to happen. Lord knows I haven't been able to do that again http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

yes, there are ways to off daimyos with ninja, even when the odds seem completely futile. i posted a thread a loooong time ago where i detailed several things in how to do it, search for the keyword "ninja" in this forum.
