Hi everyone:

I just got MI from a friend and played a campaign using Oda on expert, 1530 of the new settings (starting with one province). Now I would like to report my feelings:

1. Many good new features added such as the general honor as carrying stars.

2. Buildings are so cheap and fast now! This makes the game much easier as I can upgrade almost half as fast as the AI! (compared to the old STW... they got citadel, I have 4 large castles)

3. Morale problem: I am not sure whether the troops are routed less easily in the campaign. In the later stage the AI has all kinds of morale/honor upgrades so it would be reasonble for them to fight longer. However, while playing the first Oda campaign battle (killing Imagawa Yoshimoto) I did find the enemy stand very calm seeing their daimyo die just beside them.

4. Some bad features fixed such as the "starve-to-death-in-the-castle daimyo".

5. The bridge crossing is now a fast business - so the trick of "using the daimyo to distract the entire enemy then push your entire horde over" works even better now.

6. Ninja are more powerful now. But I also got a whole truck of H2, H3 generals to kiss goodbye. lol

7. Geisha is easy to kill! H3 ninja vs. H0 Geisha, 2W 0L. This is really good.

8. The ronins act like ONE CLAN! (They are supposed to be minor fractions, but they were so united... @#$@%#^) This is so bad when I was surrounded by nonthing but ronins, especially those Yamashiro and Ise monks... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

9. The reinforcemnet problem: !@#$@#$%@#^$@#$@%#$^@#$% In the later stage, I had to auto-resolve ALL large battles to win. The enemy reinforcement come from everywhere - @!#$$%@^%#@#$@%# behind me, on top of me, on the left, on the right... just everywhere. Glad I was on the bottom of Shinano valley...

10. Smarter alliance! The AI were very eager to ally with me and try to keep the friendship when I am still useful.

So finally I completed the map at year 1555 or so. It was a good experience but I think the reinforcement problem has hurt the whole fun of playing large battles. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/redface.gif The solution of fairly represent the numerical strength is to bring ALL army on the battlefield, not to issue some super ability to the large army.

11. The infamous feature port attack now ROCKs!! Grab their inner province and sell everything! woohoo! Finally it was only me (west) and Uesugi (east) left. He rushed towards my Mino-Mikawa defense line, while my daimyo had a great time demolishing the entire Japanese Kanto. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

Still, thank you very much for the encouragement. However, I don't think I will be playing STW-MI often enough to produce any readable stories. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
