Just played four turns in a single player campaign, and got attacked by 2400 Ronin to my 1200. After the enemy routed, their reinforcements came from two seperate areas of the map, BUT ON THEIR FAR SIDE OF THE MAP.
Still not exactly easy, but this I can deal with.

I lost at least 4 full units before the timer ran out, but none of my reinforcements ever showed up, so I am not sure how the friendly reinforcements work, if at all.

Also, it could be my imagination but but the camera controls seemed a bit smoother to me.
I have been experiencing an occasional brief hang in the camera movement with the WE version that I do not have with the old
STW version.

Although I do not play multiplayer, I am glad to see that the patch really attempts to address their problems.

Once again, thanks C.A.

I withdrew 4 SA units from a single player campaign battle in Shinnano, and got 2 replacement units right away. I didn't get the rest of my reinforcements until I withdrew all my units later in the battle. When I got them, they mostly came on in the two corners on my side of the map. Interestingly, this allowed me to win the battle because the ai units were not near my reinforcements. The ai units were near the center of my back edge where my withdrawing units had exited.

I find the reinforcement placement better than the random placement before the patch. The present system of supplying most reinforcements at once might be an attempt to simulate an army showing up on the battlefield. I did like the old method of reinforcements since you could just replace weakened units.

Konnichiwa Yuuki,

I observed both things happening: 1 by 1 replacement and 10 units at once. I like that uncertainty. It's realistic and gives the AI a change to win a battle.

Hi TosaInu,

The reinforcement system in STW did seem artificial in the sense that you had units just off the map waiting for a space to open up for them to enter. It was more like having reserves constantly available rather than reinforcements arriving. I was concerned that the present system would cause you to loose the battle, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It does cause you to relinquish the favorable ground on many maps, but it adds variety and unpredictability. You could easily end up having to attack a bridge that you started out defending. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Of course everyone could get around the whole problem of reinforcements by being good enough to win with what you've got at the start http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif !
