View Full Version : Reduced rank... ?

Just recalled a weird phenomenon. In MI (before and after patch) I have found AI's famous generals/daimyos ranked lower than they deserve. For example:

33 W 2 L --> rank 3 (and when 33 W 3 L, rank 2). (Wouldn't it be R5?)

9 W 6 L --> rank 0 (Wouldn't it be R2?)

Just wondering whether there is a bug or there are more new features about ranking.

mAY well be to do with the enemy Daimyo's breaking alliances dishonourably...

...think they may lose rank as a result!

fairly daft implementation, because all Daimyos do it and i don't think the AI takes note of how low it Daimyo's rank is getting!!

Just makes the game a lot simpler than it already is for us playing the campaigns http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

It seems that the rank is done not on a pure w/l record - but also by streaks. Get a rank 6 general, fight him twice and win against him both times - he will drop in rank. Win 10 times - then lose a battle - win 10 more - lose one etc - and you still end up with a High rank general even tho they may have more losses than a rank 6 with 3 consecutive losses. Seems like a good thing to me.
Qapla!

Last night I had another strange experience.

Playing Hojo 1530 (expert), I finished Uesugi in 3 seasons and Takeda broke the alliance with me by attacking my Sagami using his daimyo, 191 (YC + 2CA) crushed by my 120 (2YS) in the woods. The victorious general was R2 (3W 0L), now 4W 0L.

Then I assaulted Kai. My another ally, Imagawa helped me with 120 (YS + YA). We sandwiched the enemy on a steep slope, totally victory. However, my general gained one LOSS (4W 1L) and went back to Rank 2.

Is this a bug, or another calculation feature? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
