View Full Version : This may sound stupid!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know how i can slow down the speed of the AI movement on the strategy map?
It's hurting my eyes it's so quick and making me feel ill!!!Honestly.
I get the same feeling when playing Quake engine games.
I don't want to press space and miss the Scenic Tour as i like to see what the AI is doing.

ah i feel your pain... the little while i was playing it i had to keep looking away from the screen when pressing end turn
one solution would be running it on below-spec machine with a whole bunch of programs running in the background http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thank God it's not just me!!!
There must be a way to mod the speed thru the game files?
Hach
they just can't get it right, I was annoyed by the slow movement of the units on the strat map before, but it blurrs now, I'll put up with it though....obviously http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
I quit worring about watching it since it tends to leave "double images" (daimyo icon in both the province he was in and the province he went to) until it finished.

Try to change the game files (there my be a speed modifier in the .ini) if you want, but backup everything you do. also, keep in mind the game was set up to keep people from changing the game so they get an advantage in multiplayer, so any changes will likely result in getting error messages in multiplayer games.
You might want to try zooming the camera out a little bit as well ( keypad 1 and keypad 3). It won't slow it down, but it's a little easier on the eyes.

Hi Target
Thanx for the advice?
Do you know if this can be altered in the settings?
Hach
This isn't the battle map, it's the strategy map..
And there are no .ini's in Total War to my knowledge, or any way to alter this speed. It's a game feature (for good or bad), they didn't predict anyone wanting to modify it.

This appears to be ok now after the patch?
Did this get adjusted in the patch?
hach
Don't think anyone touched the speed of the camera in the patch, although it could have been a happy coincidence that one of the other fixes affected it somehow. Unlikely, but stranger things have happened...

Yes the double-daimyo thing really looks bad. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif
I also have some motion sicknewss playing Doom-like 3D games. I felt like vomitting after playing wolf 3D for half an hour (a long time ago), but not for House of the Dead 2 (PC version).
lol i'm with all of you on this. Its weird but I have to look away when the machine is doind all that moving. It gives me motion sickness and feels like my eyes are becoming unhinged.

--grin--- remember once (long ago too) me and a friend were playing wolf 3d on two computers. He literally puked after a while.
This is strange, but I'm using a 1.4 GHz Athlon, 256 MB memory system with V3/3000 video card in 16 bit color, 800x600 screen resolution, and I don't see this super high speed strategy map movement. It faster than STW was, but I can clearly see all the ai movements. I saw no difference when patching from v1.0 to v1.01.
Target,
Thanks for your continued presence in this forum. I never saw your comments as hype.

Well It's alright for some !

Fight first, ask questions later.
Seems better to me since patched.
I felt ill while watching the ai strategy map moved before and now it's just like old STW.
Hach
I found it was worse in the East as the AI goes from one low lying province to a northern one then down then up and yes I was feeling the old motion sickness blues coming up - just about literally. Then someone said about how you can adjust the zoom in and out and I tried it. It actually works as the screen will not move up and down if it has both provinces in the screen view. Also good if you are moving a lot of shinobi around to the other side of the map.
