View Full Version : two screenshots
1) The daimyo didn't lose anything - but is strangely under-honored. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif (bug?)

2) (From Clink) He found that the victory number won't go over 127. Also, there are only 6 stars showing on the screen.

Well, the first one is almost certainly a bug.
But the second one.. alright, just how high do you want your Daimyo to go? Yes, it stops at 127.. let me tell you why-- because 127 + 1 = 128 which takes 7 bits to represent in binary. The programmers simply left it that way because (a) if they have wins go up and up ad infinitum then every single variable representing these wins for every single unit (each unit is a potential general) has to have the appropriate space alotted to represent the higher and higher numbers. When you get into having a lot of units, this would be a HUGE drag on performance.
Oh yeah, the second reason. (2) They are reasonable people and saw no reason for wins to get any higher than 127. I mean really, what the hell does an honor 8 general relate to in real life?? And how long are you planning on fighting this war?? Till the 1900s??
The display of only 6 stars is also explained by the above two reasons.
u people are nuts :P

Point taken...It could end easily. Its just a test of curiosity. If you observe some of the other threads on this, few have witnessed a level 8 general.
Beside,its my game,and I can play it as long as I god d*m well want....if thats okay with you http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

Actually - wins can go up to 255 - before it trips back to 0. I know as I have screenies to show it. That means rank 8 - BUT you still only see 6 stars - although you do get the extra bonus to honor.

P.
I"m testing out Tera's Gempei War campaign,interesting,
When I got into the 1500 centry,I started producing heirs. The campaign starts in the 1100 centry.
Also the heirs won't form them selves into units,I believe I have three of them.
Daiymo is around 550 years by now.
This game shouldn't be compared to the other original MI campaigns.
I'm just pissing around with this one.

Sounds fun actually. I'm going to try a campaign and just screw around with it and see what I can come up with.
