I used to like em but l don't any more. Reason is l like better high-honor no dashis.

I like all shock troops...ie. monks, nods (my favourite unit!) and light cavs.

Monks are unbalanced but now quite expensive, I always take 3/4 with me along with 3/4 of Nodachi honour 3 usually. A combo of nods/monkeys is the best you can get...really...I don't like YS honour 5...their morale is very bad.

I am loathe to use Monkeys (lol, I like that) coz they're far too unbalanced. I rarely if ever play online now because as nearly every opponent max's out on them it becomes boring. I prefer decent YS units with a sprinkling of No Dachi.
I fight a defensive kind of battle nearly the whole time (I'm a wimp basically), so Monks dont sit well with me.

I used to rely totally on shock troops...but now I find a decent SP army has 2-4 shock troops (of 16 units) and the rest YS and some calvary...though I do love the way WM shred the opposition...make enemy WM moving targets or gang-bang unit...

The best unit is the gun fo sure, no opposition.

For monks you pay 550 koku at least.

Remember when muskets were still 175? Cheers.

I've never been a big fan of Monkeys, and feel an army of cavalry and guns can easily beat them, but I'm insane, so don't listen to me.
