What conditions have to be met for the game to stop a battle and declare a victor? I have fought battles where generals were lost on both sides and losses were about even when the game stops the battle and throws the victory one way or the other.
Its frustrating to be declared the loser when you have complete units still to fight with.

Hi and welcome to the dojo. Well in normal settings you must rout the entire enemy army or kill them all!

Make sure there isn't a unit hiding in the forest or somewhere...

Sometimes the AI does that to piss ya off. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

The game can stop right in the middle of a battle for one of two reasons:

1) The time runs out (in this case the defender always wins).

2) One of the armies routs completely and thoroughly without any hope of reassembling and rallying. The game gives the loser the option of staying to watch his fleeing forces being massacred by the opposition.

It is said that one is not truly a samurai if he does not make his decisions quickly and break right through to completion".
