I wish to start by saying that the present diplomatic aspects of the game are insufficient and in need of improvement. We need a more realistic and involving diplomacy to reflect the real political machinations of the sengoku jidai period in all its treachery and shifting alliances.I suggest a new ability to moive through the territory of allies, swapping of territory and payment of money to a cash strapped ally. Also i would suggest marrying sons to other daimyos daughters to cement alliances and more coordinated military activities to destroy a mutual threat. As well as these suggestions you could include the ability of ninjas to sabotage buildings in enemy territory and shinobi to acquire more detailed intelligence on your opponents position vis-a-vis finance, military and internal dissent which could in turn be exploited. On a final point i`d also like to suggest that it would be more realistic to have warrior monks trained only in certain provinces and this would mean that these territories would have to be captured to enable you to train warrior monks. This would be more realistic than all provinces being able to train warrior monks, after all it was only a few provinces that specialised in these troops, and mean holding these few areas would be of major strategic benefit.

Well, *theoretically* you could just recruit some Sohei and have them travel to your castle to come onto your payroll.. although being right in the middle of hella-monk country would make the logistics a bit easier..

I always liked the idea of clans recognizing your claim to the Shogunite(Is that the right word?)as a winning condition.
It could be something like this.
1/ you'd have to have the Emperor's mandate.
2/ every clan would either through diplomancy(Bribes, etc.) or a show of strength have to recognize your right simultaneously.
This ,I think would really give diplomancy a reason to be in the game.

Should they give me a job or what?
