swords, definately. What you mean by "similar". Is a helbard similar or a spear? If so you meant melee?

Well, I love sword fighting. I am practcing two main ways. The european technique and I have expirimented with some iaido (sp?). It was only an intro course, but I can do the basic kata, and I learned to stab, slice and head attack. They all have special names, tho I cannot remember them. I am considering to start in a club (dojo), but I live too far right now, maybe when I move to Copenhagen I can begin my practice.

Since this is a modern age, I go with aerial warfare. For a formidable military these days, air force has to be strong. I.e Aircraft carrier for naval battles these days and helicopter gunships for urban warfare.

No Not the Simon Scharmer one. This is a book that studies the history of warfare through the ages with a particular focus on the West and it's technological and qualitive attitude to warfare.

The reference was to do with the western front towards the end of the 1st World War.

If you mean real close, fighting technique I'd say hands.

If you mean guerilla or urban warfare (first person) I'd say assualt rifle.

If you mean modern warfare I'd say aerial combat.

nothing beats a fist fight,land a few blows in critical parts and thats it for your opponent.i'm also into sword fights,but the arabic way of swordfighting.tried a broadsword ones was too heavy for me,i prefer the saif very fast and lethal and is of better quality.i also have a persian katana lower quality but similiar to the way the katana functions(same design too).but every weapon i had is sitting their for decoration and has no real use http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif when i go into a fight i use fists,its the manly way http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Headbuts are always entertaining. My friend and I once got stopped on the road by an 18 yr old (we were about 13) he grabbed my friend by the shirt and was shaking him. My friend warned him to let go, he didn't so my friend jumped and headbutted him. He didn't let go though so my friend headbutted him again. Off he went running down the road lol.

Headbuts are just as entertaining when they don't work, at my kickboxing club theres a stack of martial arts videos which you can borrow. I borrowed a video of failed headbuts, it was freakin hilarious The most common stuff up was when the guy (throwing the headbut) would close his eyes and smash his face against the top of the other guys head. A memerable one was a guy headbutting an uppercut, NASTY

My favorite technique was to withdraw my lead foot but then shoot back a side kick when my opponent advanced. Simple but even when it didn't score it kept your opponent honest.
If the guy was a real fire breather I would back up defensively a few times first and then wham His enlightenment began.

So what should our escort consist of? I'm rooting for the super battleship Yamato, U-234, the Graf Zepplin and the USS Missouri with it's Gulf War modifications.
