There have already been a couple floating around, but I thought people may be interested in slightly more graphical version.

The screenshots show what's in development. The Unit Statistics page will graph unit kills vs. enemy units eventually. Only graphs current unit in the screenshot.

Will also incorporate pie graphs showing the distribution of kills amongst the types of units...etc.

The idea is to not have to wade through figures but see graphically what your army did and did not do well.

Anyway, check it out. No download yet, but if people are interested I'll try and get it finished before Christmas. No promises though ;-)

Actually...I thought about that same thing Widda.....hey I'm up for collaboration.

I'm making all this stuff in VB though. What are you using Widda?

Thanks for the feedback :-)

OK, I don't much mind people posting messages about launches of new products in here where everyone will see them, but if you're going to be coordinating development then you would be better using the Editing/Mods/Patches forum.

Nice work btw! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Great tool Tiger!

It is very cool. Hope that we get it soon.

And Maggy, very good your program, but there is Widda's as well.

It is in the downloads section of my site.

People, Shogun is kept alive with these programs.Keep it up!

I second the kudos you received from the others, but I just want to point your attention on that the daimyo representing hojo in the screen is actually the imagawa frontfigure.

Ooops...thanks Kikuchio...will fix it now. Thanks for the comments guys....I'll keep at it. Shame Widda and I can't collaborate but you never know.

Just for the record, if anyone wants to start merging their tools together I'm up for it. This tool is for the love of the game, not the glory of this programmer :-)

So if anyone is starting a new tool, has other ideas or wants to merge existing features in their tool, I'm all ears.

Actually, after starting work on this tool I realised how much could be done if the logfiles were updated over a time period. Magyar has already talked about a Battle Recorder. That's one aspect, but with more information over time we could also graph the performance of archers and other units, we track their morale during the course of the battle and determine which events triggered a turn in the battle. Was it the flanking cavalry archers or the front assaulting warrior monks the broke the morale of the troops.

What I hope, is that people like Richie and the Creative Assembly are looking at what the community is doing. If they are, then may we ask, if it's not mountains of code, that the logfiles be improved to track events over a certain time period or when significant events occur. For example, if a units morale is broken, that would trigger a write to the file with a time that it happened.

I think I'm rambling again. Thanks for the feedback guys. Rob...understand about the coordinating off this thread. If it happens I will move to the Mods section.

Looks sweet. I love the way the community is taking things into its own hands.

PS: Another logfile reader just like I wanted and hopefully still in time for Christmas! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Hey guys..this was initially targetted at campaign players but other logfile readers support multiple players. Unfortunately I haven't played Shogun online as yet.

Can someone send me a logfile from an online battle where more than 2 people participated? With that file I could design it support multiple players.

Please email it to jvanlint@pmintl.co.jp

Thanks.

Tiger,

Did you ever get the MP log file you wanted? If not, I have several that I can send you for reference. Widda and I had discussed his reader privately and what I thought would be quite interesting would be to use your VB program as the front end to an Access database that would track results.

A quick form could be written that would allow users to enter a name and see first if they had played that person in the past, and also the query could return what the likelihood of a particular person using a particular army was. Additional fields could be used to filter the results by season, map, 1x1 or MP and whether that person were attacking or defending.

It may not be something that could be used in realtime while preparing for a battle, but it could be fun for additional post-battle analysis as well as a historical record of your achievements against a particular player.

Just a thought

Obake,
I did get a file (thanks by the way) however I failed to see more than two names in the file. It was an Internet file but not with more than 2 players. So a 3-4 player Internet file would be great.

As for your ideas...they are great...I had planned to keep stats over time but was planning on using basic text files...I guess Access would offer more flexibility and ease of use. Fantastic stuff Obake...although I would need some of your help determining the calcs required for comparing 2 armies. You mentioned the possibility of determining the likelihood of winning against an opponent. How would this work do you think?

Great stuff though...unfortunately the pre-Christmas rush is snowing me under (sorry :-)
with work so I haven't been working on it lately other than cosmetically.

Thanks for the input..look forward to more correspondence.
