On expert - I was playing as Imagawa and Takeda invaded Sato. I had not gotten my full "defensive standard" army there yet, but had a good portion of it. 3 archers, 4 yari cav and 2 naginata cav were in the province. He attacked with 900 men (using 60 men/unit). Being low on archers - I honestly thought it was going to be close - instead - the outcome was a resounding victory - kill ratio was:
759 to 0!!!!!
Where the last time I got a resounding victory due to the AI doing the majority of kills, this time all the kills were mine. Twas a nice one and a bloody hard earned one at that. Luck seriously played a role as well.

Very well. :P
U know what I had - now let me give you takeda's set...
6 Yari Ashigaru (One being the Takeda Taisho)
5 Yari Cavalry
2 Yari Samurai
1 Cav Archer
1 Sam Archer
Happened like this - I took my 4 yari cav's and split them into 2 groups - placed em near the woods on each side. On Sado you can't quite get em in to start with. My archers (one being my Taisho) took up position at the very back edge on the only decent hill that faced the right way. I put one Naginata Cav on each side. It should be noted my guys were all Honor 4 with max armor and weapons.
As soon as the battle starts I ran my 2 groups of yari cav into the woods - where they promptly gain concealment. Takeda saw them, and split 3 units to head to each group. Once they went concealed, they turned back and rejoined the main force. I let them pass by, and boom - I had a good force in their backfield!
I ran my right flankers out of the woods on toward the Takeda "side" - and he dispatched his Cav Archers. As soon as I saw this, I split the group - moving them away from each other. The Cav archers keyed on one - and I reared them with the other. As they tried to turn, the target YC group closed and smashed them. One cav archer out of the running...
By this time the Takeda force had stopped - outside bow range - and looked to be assessing the situation. A YS and the SA broke back and started the march to the exposed YC group, which I had reset and re"grouped". Again, I split them up, one going to the left, one going to the center - and sure enough the SA and YS split up in an attempt to engage 1 on 1. I was trying to get the SA first, but he keyed on my center unit - and I was forced to switch the 2 "rabbits" so that the SA was pulled to my left - into a spot where my LEFT flankers could rear him! About this time the bulk of Takeda decided to start their advance, as I heard the music change. Not having to worry about enemy ranged weapons - I concentrated fire on the lone YS in the main force - until he was down to 15 men. Didn't take long with the height and my archers honor. Then I keyed all fire on the Taisho. Against good honor ranged fire - ashigaru drop like flies!
While Takeda climbed under fire - my 2 left flankers hit the SA, which didn't even turn to fight - they just ran - right into the YC they had been stalking. Meanwhile I was keeping my other "rabbit" running - and got my 3 YC set up. My rabbit ran, past one YC, then past 2 more - one on each side. They were somewhat at a distance, so the YS followed. The first YC started to follow him, so he stopped and started to charge - when the box collapsed around him... the Rabbit reversed and charged - the 2 flankers charged - and he didnt know where to turn - but as he started to rotate - the last YC hit him - and he ran like water flowing downhill.
This all occured as my archers were firing away, and I checked to see how they were - down to their last few shots. I set my 4 Yari Cav in a line facing the Takeda troops, but on the far hill - where they would have to run through me to exit the battlefield. About that time, Lady Luck decided to give me a kiss.... The enemy Taisho had advanced into 2 other units on his climb to my archers - and I saw men drop like flies - they were so crowded I doubt many arrows ever hit the ground... that salvo easily dropped 30+ men - and the Taisho turned and ran.... taking all the troops with him. (If I had not whittled down the YS - they would likely have made contact and cost me some men... with low numbers they broke too!)
Apparently my Lady of Good Fortune was not yet done, for she decided to start to disrobe me. The Takeda might well have regrouped - and my archers only had 3 or 4 shots left - when the next volley put arrows in the cowardly Takeda Taisho's back (side?). This ensured the rout - and I halted my archer fire. The remaining Takeda routed all the way back to my Yari Cav - and into them. I has set my YC to fight downhill - on Hold Position and Hold Formation. A few Takeda (all the survivors) ran on the sides of my YC, as I did not spread them overly thin. Still, having placed them on a hill looking down, 4 rows deep, no Takeda that ran into that line ran out, unless their own luck let them run between units. All in all, one enemy taisho, and over 750 enemy soldiers dead, at the cost of only a little fatigue.
I would point out that, without the armor and weapon upgrades, along with the usage of fighting downhill, and the important blessing of the goddess of good fortune (and good aim!) - the outcome would have been different. It will be a bit of time till the full "defensive set" is in place - I still have not gotten muskets (its close - the yr is 1568), but the rest of my archer force was already on its way when the attack occured. Once they arrive, I will lack only 4 maxed muskets and the set will be complete. They will be there in a couple of turns, and since I own Dewa - the attack came from Noto. I looked - and it will take at least 2 turns for him to move anything up and attack, as Noto only has the 141 survivors in there right now.
Gory enough for ya?
