I don't think anyone knows unless someone is lurking around who knows something. DD

Retarded?
Just figure out that you are asking about MTW not STW. Can't delete the post.

---------------------------------------------

I don't remember exactly which province produces the most koku in farming. Most of the richest provinces are in Uesugi, Takeda and Hojo land (I don't remember all of the province name).

Income sources (collect once a year):

Farming: all provinces generate farming income. Farming can be upgraded to generate up 100% its initial output.

Port: this is the first trade income. 200 koku each year.

Trading Post: second source of trade income. Trading post produces 200 koku in trade income.

Mine: only some provinces have mine (Iyo, Aki, Harima, ...). There are three type of mines: gold, silver and copper. I don't remember exactly the output of mines, but I think gold mine produces 600 kuko, silver mine = 400, and copper mine = 200. Upgrade to mine complex will double to output of mine.

Catheral: after you build a Catheral, you can collect 100 koku for each church in your land. I haven't done this before so not realy sure how it works.

Sack building: when you burn down/destroy a building, you get some koku back. Not confuse this with the buildings that get destroyed after a province is conquered or lost. So pillage if you can't hold a province.

One little note on the Trading Post: after you accepted the trade offer by the Dutch and built the Trading Posts, you still remain as Buddhism until you build a church. So, accept the offer and build trading post to increase income. You can train Arquebusier and still be able to build Buddhist temple. Musketeer is only available after you have built a church.

Best farmlands are in Constantinople (i think) however many others also run close. BUT - farmland production is seriously affected by who is the GOvernor of the province.. some V&Vs increase farmland production, so putting a high accumen governor with +farmland V&Vs into a province can boost its farmland tremendously.

Same applies with trade - and as this is also linked to how many trade routes you have plus how many other factions you are trading with, plus the size of your merchant facilities plus other V&Vs of the governor AND his acumen... its not a case of simply "X province = X income" - indeed far from it.

Additionally you also earn tax INCOME via Ports (as opposed to merchants) where foreign factions are trading with you. So even provinces with nothing to EXPORT (trade) can earn Port (trade) income via Imports.

Generally though the "relative value" of provincial exports can be judged by how many items they have to export, but type also counts. These dont always remain constant btw: After Marco Polo does his thing Tripoli gains additional Exports radically changing its value in trade worth.

Its also worth bearing in mind that no province will trade with another province for goods it either allready exports or can produce itself, so variety in trading destinations is also important...lots of places produce woll - but only Egypt produces Ivory...but if your the only person exporting wool and you ahve trade routes to "everywhere" then your trade value will be great. (indeed the english live in the game, and historically, off the trade exports and dominating the wool trade is one of its GLorious Achievements).

Unlike in STW ports dont produce a fixed income - if nothing is being imported they produce nothing at all and exports go via your merchant only.

Similarly resources are now not as simple - the variety is far more and not all of them actually prodcue an income - some just allow the production of certain buildings (noteably iron ore = metalsmith capability)..but you can build salt, copper, silver and gold mines (and another i forget).

Cathedrals can also earn income but its main importance now is on keeping your local popualtion happy, improving troop morale and allowing further building upgrades (University, College of Surgeons, Academy which allows for the Elite troop types)
