I recently started a late campaign in mtw as i fancied trying some of the high end troops etc and all was progressing nicely until i got a message saying there are only 20 turns left until the end of the campaign

Very frustrating as I never realised that there was an end date i'd just got things under control

Does anyone know if this happens in all eras or just when you go all the way through to the end of the late era??

thanks

I believe it would be sufficiant to say that the game terminates in 1453. 1453 historically marks the end of the medieval era.

Hi Tigger. The end may be near in your campaign, but there is no end in sight here at the Org. Thanks for joining us.

All eras play through to the end of the Late era. Alas, if only MTW was like an arcade machine, just insert a quarter to continue your game another 10 years. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

There is a fix (Available for download.)

Best applied in your last year (1453) the patch edits your save game file and removes? the time limit. As the patch says you can now 'play until your peasants take vacations on Mars'

Thanks for your replies, do you know where I can find that patch or what it's called? The thing about the list of mods etc on this site is that there's no explanation of what they do until you donwload them and none seem to say date or anything?

Thanks again would be nice to finish my campaign off with some large cannons

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Welcome to the Org Al-Mansour. I gather from the fact that you dredged up a year-old topic, that you must be intimately familiar with us now. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I'm glad you were able to find your answer here. Please do stay with us if you are so inclined.

If you're into DIY (do it yourself) modding, you don't need no fix to DL. Open your late.txt file under \campmap\startpos and look for the following lines:

Code Sample
SetStartDate:: 1321
SetPeriod:: LATE
SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 1087
SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 1205
SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 1321
Add this right underneath:

Code Sample
SetGameEndDate:: 1976
(You need to substitute spaces with tabs if they don't appear here.)

Why 1976? That's when yours truly was born. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif More historically appropriate than 1453. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif

And Lo Upon the day of Mouzafphaerre's birth, the era known as the Medieval Age FINALLY ground to a halt and buggered off.

And tragically, upon concluding a 654 year game of MTW, Al-Mansour's eyes popped out of his head from staring at his monitor too long. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
