I've always wondered why people do these, as this is a MTW forum.

Someone start a poll to see who is going to loose by the most in this poll http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I voted MTW, but only because I did not see my true gaming passion, Barbie Fashion Designer, on there... (I therefore proclaim this poll to be a sham&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I only play 2 games on the list STW and MTW. I love both, so I flipped the coin to decide which one I will vote for.

STW won.

The poll is bogus, though it builds up morale here http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Would you expect to go to, let's say Toyota factory and ask workers which cars are the best and expect them to say Mazda, Chevy or Ford? That's, I am sorry, naive.

Ah, the quality of polls on this site..........

Baron von Beer
03-22-2003, 09:25
No, I would expect a Toyota worker to say Lexus. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I have a side question: There are a half-dozen or so of these 'favorite game'-type polls, reaching back to December; anyone have a problem if I delete some (or all) of those?

Trying to get the replied to count down below 10,000.

Love medieval, I'm not even close to being tired of it.

However I voted for Shogun. If only because I loved the feel and style more.

I really miss the Geisha, and throne room animations.

Transitions between modes, and sequences felt more fluid and dramatic.Everything tied together well, the music, animations, and even colour sequences. The game had better finish work than Medieval.

Why lol behind the Sims? I know it's very hip these days to not like the Sims and I agree that the extension packs are becoming very tedious by now. But the original The Sims was an absolute top-game (and yes, I am serious) and I spent hours behind the computer playing it and enjoying it I think I have played more of the Sims then I have played MTW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif

And I read a preview on The Sims 2 on Gamespy yesterday and I am afraid that one is going to cost me a lot of long nights behind the computer as well.

The Sims is an absolute classic and a brilliant game, there I said it. And in my top 5 of best games ever it deserved a spot, behind MTW though, so I still voted for that http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Kind of a very sensible poll... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Yeah, in a MTW forum, i think that MTW will win. Anyway, that is my favorite game - I have been playing and modding for about 6 months now, and I have not gotten tired of it at all.

I tottaly agree http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

In my opinion STW takes the crown for several reasons:

-Defining the original concept;
-Pioneering the battle engine;
-It is a COMPLETED game (not like MTW - so much missing);
-The amazing ambience;
-The attention to all details;
-The videos and music;

It is game making elevated to ART

As for MTW:

-Extremely complex, therefore harder to CA to complete fully (I still think it was rushed to the public http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )
-Gameplay improvement, strategic and tactical wise;
-Allowing much variation - cultures, units, etc...;
-More rewarding as a game in the long run - more replayability;
-Less attention to the ambience (no videos) and therefore less completeness in the whole feeling of the game (less perfectionism);

As for the other games, comparing them with the TotalWar series:

Who knows? Who cares?... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

...except the Homeworld series. Very good one indeed. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
