Well, there are two forms a ranks. The mercenary that you see is done strictly by number of posts and has little meaning other than at 500 posts you can pick your own avatar.

The other is your group. Your group determines your forum access and other privileges. The group rankings (from lowest to highest) go: Junior Patron, Senior Patron, Junior Member and finally Senior Member. These are assigned by the Org staff based on merit. If you want to know more, see the New? Read this first topic pinned at the top of this forum.

The Org staff makes recommendations every now and then but Tosa is the man who makes the big decisions. Last point about Senior Membership - they are not handed out on request, but rather on merit. Being an all around good/helpful/contributing Org patron is really all it takes. Gawain, sorry, but to my knowledge, none of the EH moderators know you, so we have to go through this meet and greet routine.

As for how long?, at present, we are putting out promotions about once a week. I&#39;d prefer it to be every 2-3 days, but that is not possible at the present. Next promotion batch should be in a day or two (about January 16).

Usually, Senior Patron (SP) is a very temporary rank. You remain a SP usually for about a week or two. This give you a chance to exercise you new freedom but still restricts you from rushing right to the Tavern, having one too many beers in celebration and then getting yourself in trouble in one of the many heated discussions they have in there. Tosa will bestow a Junior Member rank to you unannounced, so you&#39;ll need to watch your rank when you login. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-cool.gif

Here we dont want anyone posting anywhere, this could casue countless amounts of spam and possibly flamewars (those can get pretty darn messy)

Right now your a junior Parton and to my knowledge can only post in this forum but most partons are quickly accepted and made a junior member where they can post anywhere on the fourms (as far as I know anyway)

All you have to do is post logical ideas and make sence and just contribute here to the cummunity.

You cannot post outside the entrance hall if you are a junior patron. You need to be promoted to senior patron first. This takes usually a week or sometimes two. Please read New? How long does it take? That depends on you and the moderators. It is what you post and how you say that matters. We&#39;ve promoted people based on one well constructed post and there are others who&#39;ve needed about 50 posts. We read what you post as it gives us a little character profile on you as a person. The more you say (text not # of posts) the better picture we get of you. The other factor is the moderators&#39; time. Sometimes we get busy with real life and it takes us a week or more until we find the time to evaluate new patrons. We do try to keep it under a week though.

The best advise is to participate in the discussions here in the Entrance Hall (not spam) and your promotion will take care of itself.

Senta Yes, it&#39;s 500. There was a discussion about avatars a year ago and people wanted some kind of reward system. The theme and reward system has merrits though.

There&#39;s also a second system for avatars. It took a while to get it, so it still seems a bit unknown.

You can click on any avatar and a new window will pop up showing another image. You can also change the skin in your control panel to CustomAvatar and you&#39;ll see the personal avatars of users instead of the theme avatars. You&#39;re free to use about any picture there, you can find more info about it

I had 33 post before i became a senior patron. Since there is so many more people joining, you have to wait 7 days and have at least 15 posts before you become a senior patron, at least thats what i heard.

Member used to be Junior Member but someone brilliantly suggested by dropping the Junior we eliminate confusion between Junior Patrons and Junior Members. Ok, everyone comes in at the level of junior member.

Then, about onc a week or more often, a moderator (forgot which one) goes through the newbies and promotes those who have contributed to the org.

There is NO post count you have to reach, there is NO length of post required, there is NO length of time you have to be here.

Each persons posts are looked at on an individual bais, and them promotions are given out on the value of those posts. People have been promoted after 1 good post, and people have NOT been promoted after 100 posts.

Promotion from senior patron to member follows the exact same rules, it is completely the moderators discretion. I myself got to be a member after being here about a week and a half, other have not become a member after months, again it&#39;s NOT number of posts, it&#39;s not size of post, it&#39;s QUALITY of posts that people are promoted on.

If your a senior patron and really desperately want to be a member I suggest you head over to the mead hall, read a few stories and write your own, posts over there are very well written. ALL of the forums are closely watched by moderators, so you don&#39;t have to go jumping up and down saying &#39;pick me pick me&#39; to get promoted, you just have to earn it in quality of posts.

Personally I think this is a brilliant way of doing it. So many other forums do it on post count, and that just promotes and rewards spammers.

I do have a question

While I feel that the quality of posts determines if and when a person gets promoted is in itself a good idea, I feel that considering the time this game has been out and volumes of debate that discusses the game every day, junior members could be disadvantaged in the fact that there may be a lot less to contribute to discussion, short of how do I get my troops to Ireland.

For example, I recently copied a post from .com about GA modding only to be told that this topic had already been covered months ago.

Im not saying contributing is impossible but it does seem logical to concude that as time passes, things will become harder for newbies and repetitive for veterans.

Thank you very much. I must say I have been thinking about this system and have come to appreciate it. As all members start in the entrance hall, there is something of an affinity for it that must probabaly last. This probably aids in junior patrons getting responses from members as members remember their time in the EH and check it out more therefore.

Hi garion. You can tell if you got promoted a couple of ways. First, your name will be added to the first (or is it the second?) post in this topic back on page 1. The other way is to check your group under your avatar on the left side of one of your posts. If it says Senior Patron or Member, you made it.

The next batch of promotions should happen in the next day or two if I can get my act together. As for criteria, just scan up this page a little ways or check almost any of the previous pages (your question is a common one) or you can read the New? Read this first post pinned at the top of this forum. It isn&#39;t that hard and in fact, you are already doing what is necessary for promotion.
