Promotions to Senior Patron

Greg, how do you manage to keep tabs on every member? My promotions seemed to go like clock work so I assumed it was an automatic post count thing.

Haha You want to know my secret, eh? Simple really. I have an Excel spreadsheet to which I add each new patron I run across. Sometimes I have a brain fade and forget to add a new patron to my spreadsheet. I usually catch it later, especially if they post frequently, but there have been one or two that I didn't realize I missed until they asked about promotion - oops http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-embarassed.gif

I briefly considered keeping a history but figured Tosa could probably put up any stats I'd need. Once the promotions go up, I delete the promoted names from the Excel list. Still, there are quite a few Junior Patrons that have posted once or twice and never again. My list is gradually growing and has over 650 names on it.

We'll try to get another batch of promotions by the weekend.

The problem some of you face is that you are such prolific posters that you are at 40-50+ posts within a couple of days of joining. Most new patrons would have 2-10 posts in the same time period.

The problem that we face when there are several prolific posters that join about the same time (like now) is that it means we have a lot more posts to read. For the last week or two, often I'd come here and my unread posts would spill over to a second page. In one or two cases I'd reviewed all posts 8-10 hours before hand and was shocked to find another screenful of new posts to read again http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif It is like trying to swim upstream. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif LOL

Yep loads of little n00bs will be hopping around. You may have to promote some of the senior members to mederators to keep up.

There are two main reasons why I haven't got to 100 yet ceaser.
1) I got a old P.C working that can just about play shogun. Unfortunately the web and the sound still don't work. But hey I can still slaughter some yuri ashiguru now.
2)The inquisition is taking up some of my time and I haven't been promoted to senior patron yet. Ask ceaser what I mean when I say the inquisition.

As to the little symbols above the avatar, here is their meaning:

HF (purple): 2003 Hall of Fame winner
HF (green): 2002 Hall of Fame winner
Camera: Winner of one or more categories in a screenshot competition earlier this year.
EDIT: given to those who have made significant contributions in the area of modding the TW games.
MAP: given to those who have made significant contributions in making battle maps for the TW games.
Paper w/writing: given to those who have made significant contribution in writing stories.

Some with more than two have the little icons flip between two. See froggy's for an example. The camera and paper flip every second or two.

Hang in there folks. The mods are aware they need to put together a promotion list. We just went through a change in forum moderators. I used to be the initiator of the promotion list amongst the Entrance Hall mods and now that I have moved on to the Monastery forum, Kukri and Pape have to work out their own procedures for doing the promotion list. I'll also add that Kukri is currently pulling double duty over at the Tavern, which is a handful in itself.

In the meantime, do keep in mind that you can post in the Dungeon, Apothecary, Story/PBeM, and Multiplayer forums - you just can't start a new topic there.

Why can't a Junior Member initiate a search? If anyone is likely to need to use the search function to find a solution to a problem with the game or to get advice it would be a Junior Member, and yet I can't You guys are really carrying this medieval stuff way too far

I don't think anyone can use the search. I've posted about this before, and I was told that the search function has been messing things up, and was temporarily disabled.
I recall searching as a junior member, so we can use the function, just not at the moment.

I was a Jr. Member, and suddenly I noticed I couldn't post over at the Engineer's Guild (where I've seen Jr. Member's posting). And then I realized I couldn't edit any of my posts. I couldn't start threads in a couple of other places I checked, and suddenly It said I was a Jr. Patron again! (I'll note it says "Junior PatronS" over my name in most places now... Have I been booted back by someone for some reason (I haven't done anything wrong, as far as I know) and I believe that since I had a membership before, I should have it now as well... Correct?

*WAIT! Ohhhhh, me think me know. My account was lost when the forum was reformed. I reregisted under the same name (and password), and I'll bet it put me as Jr. Member because the memory from the old system was still showing my name, even though my account was lost.

But now, it's realized I have a "new" account, and bumped me back... This is no good, as I've already been postin' in places I can't anymore... Is there possible for this to be recorrected, because as a thread in here states, the old account users that were Jr. Patrons were promoted automatically, so, since my account was lost, does this mean that doesn't apply for me anymore:\...

I do hope not, because that's rather crummy. ~:(

Yup. I'm positive I used this username, because I purposely made this screenname my .Com one, so that people would know who I was. And I only use one email address, so obviously, I used that one both times.

Considering I was able to be a 'Junior Member' for at least a while, I think that that proves I used the same information, so it can't be that...:\

Oh well, I suppose I'm in no rush. Thanks for workin' on the problem for us (seeing as others are havin' the same problem!)

Junior patrons are allowed to start topics only at Entrance, not just reply. Relying to threads is limited to only certain fora.

CelticFalcon, you need to contact TosaInu with specifics about your old account. Since we just switched to a new forum, you have to reset your password as the old one won't work. Have you tried that? You need to use the "forgot password" link on the login screen. If you tried that and it didn't work, then contact Tosa.

massa, your posting restrictions are most likely a glitch with the new boards. It has been 6-9 months since we had a "Entrance Hall only" restriction. You should be able to reply in most other forums except the Tavern. I'm sure it is on Tosa's "to do" list.

Post count has nothing to do with promotion. It has happened that a junior patron was promoted to senior patron after one post. Another patron posted over two hundred times before being promoted. It all depends upon how you participate. As long as you are helpfull and friendly and don't spam, you will be senior patron within two weeks (it used to be one week, but things are a bit confused because of a number of recent changes). Promotion to member is automatic if you have been a senior patron for two weeks (unless you start misbehaving yourself). I suggest you read this topic, it tells you all you need to know: New? It occurs when the mod in charge of the entrance hall gets round to promotions, I think it's kukrikahn now. No doubt they have been busy with the influx of new members brought by RTW and the demo just as in the .commie.

Don't worry silver you'll get in eventually and will be able to "roam free".

theforce: welcome back m8. Is your email the same as you registered with before? If so, use the "reset/lost password" link (the old passwords didn't migrate from the old board), get the new numeric password from that email, log in using it (and theforce username), then you can change password in your user Control Panel to something you prefer.

If your email is different than before, PM me with it. We'll have to change your account details to the new email.
