How are turns going to be divided? If this has already been posted somewhere my apologies but I'm wondering how turns are going to be divided. Basically, is it going to be like MTW with each turn lasting a year? Or like STW with each turn lasting a season? Or possibly something new where each turn lasts two seasons (Summer and Winter)? Thanks in advance.

It will be seasons. IIRC there were a dozend of posts like this in the past months, and everytime people came with quotes from previews where CA told the turns will be seasons.
It would be much more realistic cuz it would be strange to see an army march from north to south Italy in on year.

my 2 cents. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

That's even worse. they should have made it so you could move an army 2 provinces in it's homelands.
Maby it's gonne be in RTW, I hope so.

All I know is that, after the second or third crusade, the danish king sailed to Jerusalem in 1 year ... I need at least 12 in MTW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I preferred the seasons used in STW over the years in MTW. It was fun because if you wanted to really finish off a crippled enemy faction you would sometimes attack in winter but only on rare occassions. This was vice versa also. If an enemy has succesfully pushed you back last couple of turns you would have a momentary moment of peace. There were seasons where you knew you were nearly unbeatable as defender and you could replenish your armies and fortify positions.

You can sail from Denmark to Jerusalem in 1 year in MTW. You just need a trade route. Though, times needed to move over land are absurd in MTW. From Genoa to Swabia you need 3 years, but from Cairo to Tunisia you need only 2

The unofficial word is that RTW will sport two turns per year. Got this information from a post at the official RTW forum at Totalwar.com which makes reference to a brief preview in the latest issue of Computer Games(?) magazine.

From a practical standpoint two turns per year makes sense as the grand campaign game would last a total of 556 turns (RTW's timeframe is 264BC to 14AD). Four turns per year means a whopping 1112 turns of Total War madness http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif I can see how that might intimidate the more casual strategy gamer.

On the other hand four turns per year would make 'realtime' army movement on the campaign seem that much more realistic. Seasonal turns would also revive those wonderful strategic and economic nuances that made Shogun so fun to play. Add to the mix severe movement and support cost penalties for campaigning in winter, varying harvest income, etc.

Personally I want seasonal turns in Rome Total War

As I wrote somewhere else, I would prefer a non-turn based continuous play with adjustable time scales, but since RTW will have turns, I hope for seasonal ones.
