Is there any quick way to turn a unit 90 degrees, without doing a click + drag to reform them? Likewise, anyone figure out an easy way to back a unit up say 20 yards without making them move forward then back, or say 50 yards back then 30 yards forward? Nothing worse than not being able to click+ drag your unit because some of its soldiers are where you want to click.

ALT+ right click changes facing.
ALT+ left click moves without changing facing : they'll change facing to march but then resume facing when they arrive.

I find with the above and frequent use of space bar to see where troops are going I can always get it perfect. Gap in the lines? ALT left click a unit a few inches to the side.

If friendly troops are getting in the way of where you want to put your unit, then hold the shift or alt keys down. These make the cursor ignore friendly units so you can click on the ground underneath them.

They're also useful if you need to click on an enemy unit in a swirling melee, as they mean you won't accidently select the friendly soldier that moved in front of your mouse just as you clicked.

Also remember that the 'pause' command is your friend. This is all to easy to forget in the heat of a battle.
