well i never thought much about this unit untill i played a few quick battles... i was soon to learn ov thier extreme value in circling behind enemy units that are engaged, and letting loose with a volley or two of those nas javelins... i have never seen so many armies rout so quickly... and guess who was there to catch them when they ran... my spanish Jinettes

Light cavalry has got some very sweet units. The jinettes is one of them. The hobilars is another. And the steppe cavalry is the best of them all.

gotta love that cavalry. If you face some horse-archer heavy armies without them, you are toast. but jinettes prove worthy for a variety of duties, more so than the other two.

I got to agree with you Alrowan. Those Jinettes really take the starch out of the enemy infantry when you can race in on their flank while they are engaged and give them a couple volleys of javelins to break up their formation. Then run them down when they rout and put them to the sword. They are a very versatile unit, and with their speed they can quickly come to the rescue of any trouble spots on your line.

Jinettes are very good...
Fast, good in a fight and armed with Javelins.

Those javelins vreak havoc in enemy units.
It can even pay off to throw them over your own units in combat if you can't flank. They are better at this than archers.

Ahh, Jinettes! *sigh wistfully*

Just one more reason to go out of ones way to conquer the Iberian peninsula! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Though in terms of light cav, i'm quite fond of mounted sgts too.

I used to hate javellin guys in MI. By the time they get in range, half of them died by archers.

My first success using javellin was with Jinettes. Throw a few javs from the flank or rear then charge. Jinettes then become my favorite light cav and the only missile troops that I have in offense. Along with Feudal Sergeant and Lancer, they bring greatest glory in my Spanish campaign.

Later, I also have good result using Kerns and Murabitin Inf. as front line skirmishers.

They are extremelly effective, and get valour up quickly if you target the elite troops with javelins, which in turn makes them a very effective regular cavalry as well.

Yeah, they could almost have been made as a counter to those AUMS, what with the latters vulnerability to missles and all! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
I had quite good success harrying the flanks of AUM units with those javelins, even if they turn round and chase, quite often the Jinettes skirmish away in time.

Yeah, I used Jinettes as the English and they inflict a lot of casualties against opponents. Kerns are also nice even though they are slower.

I'm playing Almohad right now and Murabitin Infantry are nice coupled with Muwahid Foot and lots of AUM.
