While we're on the subject of reference links, instead of starting a new thread, I'll toss in this wonderful link that Schultzy came across and posted earlier in the MTW section:

This link gives a description of the gallowglass (Anglicized from "gallogladh", or "foreign warrior"), one of the more obscurely named unit typs in Medieval:Total War.
