Who is the meanest, most intelligent, coolest and downright hardest son of a bitch that you've had the privelege to command? Here's mine:
Lord Plantagenet-Duke of Austria and Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Loyalty: Nine.
This mans loyalty makes him a staunch ally. No action is too base in defense of your rule.
Piety:Four.
Slightly religious, he may garner some support from the religious population.
Dread:Nine.
Rooms quiet as this man enters. Tales of his foul deeds are whispered in shadows.
Command:Nine.
Battles he directs seem almost to be accompanied by music. If war is an art, this man is truly a master of his craft.
Acumen:Seven
More financially astute than most. If left to his own devices, he would probably be a prosperous merchant by now.
Vices & Virtues
Good leader
He sets an example by leading from the front, and his men respect this-+1 loyalty, +2 morale
Good Steward
He is well able to manage farmland in his province-+ 10% to agricultural output
Very Loyal
He is naturally loyal-+2 loyalty
Great warrior
He has a talent for personal combat, making him less likely to die in battle-+5 health
Skilled attacker
He has a talent for taking on the enemy on their own turf-+1 to command in this situation.
(sorry if I got some of the descriptions wrong, but I did this off the top of my head)
Post your best general.

I think that was Al-Din Zengi in my Turkish campaign. I gave him the by-name "Mongol Nemesis", he had 9 stars and pretty good virtues but I don`t know his exact stats anymore.
Mine was the one of my "famous" German army where he led some Gothic troops. I forgot his name and most stats but I still know that he had 9 stars and he would have had 12 if he had attacked with a minority of troops, but the game seems to limit the number of stars to 9. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
I would have really liked to see some Gothic Knights with valour 9. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
the only problem with him was, that he couldn“t be everywhere. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

hmmm off the top of mty head. As the English. I've had an 8 star general. He was a royal prince, but fortunatly didn't succeed to the throne so old age is of no concern to him anymore. Can't remember the exact stats. 9 loyalty, 4 piety, 8 dread, 8 acumen. I gave him a good title which helped his command skill a bit. He v&vs like Skilled last stand, scant mercy, great warrior, great leader, brave, secret adultery. I suppose he was an medieval period james bond ... on a horse http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
But i did bribe a 9 star byzan general once. 9 or 8 in everything, he was expsensive, but it was worth it.

actually this thread reminds me:
i have a general whos won about 6 major battles both on attack and defence. i think he has about 7 command stars.
problem is he is part of the mounted sergeants, theres only 4 of em left and the ai is starting to put chivalric knights into its armies now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif .
is there anyway i can put him into a different unit?? or is there anyway to boost his troop numbers back up to 40?
- without the build a new unit send it into battle and chuck the leftovers into the generals unit of course.
- and b. do you lose valour points if you throw a unit with no or 1 valour into the generals unit with about 8 valour???

Go to a province where you can build mounted srg., and click on your 8*'s army, so it appears in the review panel. Then open the troops screen up, and drag your generals unit into the box where units being trained appear. Next turn the unit will have 40 members and any upgrades that province has e.g armour, weapons. However, you may lose a point or two of valour from this, as valour is calculated on an individual basis. Hope that helps. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
I wish you could tansfer generals from one unit to another. It is particularly annoying when your only high level general is a peasant or an urban militiaman.

my best in all my campaigns was Lord Stephen Comnenus, not royal blooded despite the name, Governor of Constantinople, Commander of the Army, married to the King's daughter, 9 star and great vices and virtues besides the one about bloodlover. wow
Mine was Lord Ericsson, Danish 9-star general with 9 of loyalty, 7 of acumen, specialist defender (+2) and expert attacker (+3).
Excellent general.
Well I have typically 3-4 generals with command 9, and maybe another 2-3 command 7-8, maybe 8-10 command 5-7.
I'll have to load up some saved games for names.
Plantagent is a good one, Nur Al-Din, and Mutamid something.

Lord de la Cerda
Captain of the Stables
High Royal Knight
Valour 23, Attack 28, Defense 29, Armour 10.5$, Morale 53
Loyalty: 9
Piety: 5
Dread: 9
Command: 4
Acumen: 8
Virtues/Vices:
Famous Warrior (+20 Health, +3 Valour)
Affable (+3 Acumen, +30 Happiness)
Pride (-2 Acumen, -2 Command, +3 Valour)
Field Defence Specialist (+3 Command when defending)
Secret Killer (+4 Valour, +3 Dread)
Captured (+3 Morale, -1 Command)
Skilled Risky Attacks (+1 to Command in this situation)
Skilled Attacker (+1 Command when attacking)
The values for loyalty, piety, dread, command and acumen include bonuses from virtues/vices and offices, except for command, which is the base value. He gets an additional +2 to command from Captain of the Stables. When defending he's skill 9, when launching a risky attack he's skill 8, and on other attacks he's skill 7.
I purposely had him captured in order to get the morale bonus, command penalties are easy to make up through titles or governorships.

Well, don't have any of my regular saves since i've been playing VI, so my best is this guy.
Lord Colin
Stats:
9 Loyalty
1 Piety
9 Dread
4 Acumen
Titles:
King of Strathclyde
Saiodh (Warrior Sage)
V&V's:
Killer Instinct
Muderous Temper
Most Loyal
Magnificent Builder
Scant Mercy
Great Steward
Zealot
Background:
Built him up from a 3 or 4 star Prince playing as the Scots, in my save hes currently tearing through the Saxons.
Anyway, thats him. Has anyone taken a unit with 0 command up to 9, without titles? Would be an interesting challenge, I keep meaning to see if I can do it with a unit of Berserkers. Furthest i've got one is to two stars before he got killed. Had a unit of Pictish Crossbowmen up to 3 stars from fighting off Viking raids, then they invaded in force. Ah well.

Just hit F1 while in a battle, it'll give an overview of your men when you hit it once, mission goals when you hit it twice, and then it goes away on the third time.

My best general was Yosuf I,he was a 9 star general thanks to the portugese rebellion although his bodyguards were reduced to scratch(only 3),I lost him when i got VI http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

My 6 star general turns up on a field with 1200 men outnumbered by the enemy 2:1.
His three catapaults fire one salvo, in the opening seconds of the game, killing 14 of the enemy archers.
The whole enemy army then runs away.
i quite liked that.
Mine was a byz. general, a heir who had at first only 4 stars ... I got him to seven, made him Comander of the Fleet and Count of Tripoli ...
This way he was a 9 star general, with 8 to Acumen, 9 to Piety and Loyalty and 6 to Dread. Great Warrior, Great Steward, Magnificent Builder, Informants, Affable, Devout, Natural Leader and other 3 ... good ones
"My current general is William Wallayce SP?

9 dread

"
What the hell? I had William Wallace too (got his the same way - bribed him after a Scotish rebellion), but he had different and better stats http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
MY William Wallace came with "Excellent Leader" (I think that's what it's called) +6 to morale. He was 9 stars, so that means a total of +10 to morale. (the "Field Defense Specialist" and "Expert Attacker" didn't really add anything. You can't have more than nine stars anyway, so those additions don't do anything. With +6 morale however, units regularly fight to the last man. You almost can't lose.
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
The game would be a LOT easier if generals were all like that
This raises the interesting point. Are generals' stats random? How could your William Wallays (how it was spelled) be different than when I got him if he's the same guy? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
