Robert E Lee

Robert E. Lee was the legendary commander of the Confederate forces in the Civil War. Against overwhelming odds, Lee scored victory after victory against the Union forces led by seven different generals. Seriously, a superb operational general who, with General Sherman (another WTFIT guy), advanced the idea of total warfare to the extreme. Grant was the first general for the North that had the balls and the gameplan to beat Bobby Lee and the South...

Omar Bradley


Personally, Bradley was self-effacing and quiet. He was often overshadowed by the more flamboyant Patton and MacArthur — which suited Bradley just fine. But he was innovative in his conception of war. He admired William Tecumseh Sherman, and thought he was a master of battle movements. In fact, he thought Sherman was more important than the commanders of battle units in World War I.

Why anyone would regard W.T. Sherman as a hero is beyond my comprehension. His units slaughtered more livestock and civilians than Confederate soldiers.

The sort of general that inspires troops, attacks the enemy and lead from the front, sounds like my MTW Style (probably very high morale in his army)

To be able to turn a defenseive position into an attacking stuation is another thing I am good at. And fighting against the odds.

Grant was just about the only competant general the North had in the Civil war. The other commanders were terrible. Lee was a good general and easily prevailed over the inexperienced and stoopid Northern commanders.

However, Lee sent his troops to the slaughter at Gettysburg at whichtime the North accepted his surrender not long afterwards.

The last question was very hard for me. I could have gone either way. I answered one way and got Robert E Lee. Then I hit the Back button and answered the other way and got Ulysses S. Grant. Very interesting.

I guess if you don't know about American history, you may not know who these guys are. Both generals are from the American Civil War (1861-1865). Robert E Lee was the commander of the Confederate armies in Virginia for the bulk of the war. He gave the opposing generals fits because of his daring. He was very popular with his troops. U.S. Grant was a general of northern forces in the western theatre (Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi) until he caught the eye of President Lincoln and his advisors. Grant was made commander of all Union forces soon after the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. He used his superior forces (numbers, material, etc.) to finally defeat the southern forces and force Lee to surrender at the Appomattox Courthouse.

Since there are 4 questions with two answers each, there is the potential of 16 different generals.
